It's more like the middle to upper-middle class. The rich actually profiteer from depressions, they buy up everything like a vacuum and then enjoy the dividends when the economy goes back up. It's why they are rich to begin with. Nothing to do with work, everything to do with opportunism and the inherent farce that is our monetary system; the more you have of it the more you can make. Money was originally supposed to be a simple representation of either goods or labor. Today it is neither, it is a fraud against humanity.

No offense but thats pretty bad advice. That would mean a 20k car at 20 yrs old, a 40k car at 40 n a 60k car at 60!. It all depends on your income n debt ratio n even then circumstances n prioroties. If you can lower your expectations n requirements for superficial measures of self worth n status you will always be in better position to make wise decisions. The more one can delay gratification the better also. Neither of these are easy to do given the society we r in but that is still best n some people can do it. When you look around at all these cars on the road, all of which are depreciating items if u were to see written on the back window the payment or lease amount n their monthly insurance payments it reminds u how much everyone is paying not just to look n feel good bc a nice vehicle is more pleasing to drive even if no one ever saw you, but it is a huge factor in people's self image n status. I drive much older camry n sure I'd like to get new one soon for safety reasons as well. It only has 150k but it is a 2002! And the body is ok but lot of paint damage. Im a 56 yr old female n I almost never see anyone in a car this old aside from occasional teenager/young person. I noticed during n after the pandemic even the lower income Hispanic population who used to buy many of the older Toyota n Hondas have completely upgraded. Hmm lol. I can't help but be a bit embarrassed at times even though I don't know the random people who see me in my car n my friends of course don't care or judge despite having much nicer cars. But I try to look at it as a character building experience n I honestly don't even feel that safe getting a newer car in this far left crime ridden state of NY as my next car would be a Honda or Toyota certified just a few yrs old. At least no one is going to steal my current vehicle. Lol.

God had put in my husbands heart to sell our city home, move to the country and homestead, save water and seeds grow our own meat and food, and start to only depend on Jesus for where we eat and how we pay for our homestead . now with everything going on i see one of the many reasons Jesus was prepping my husband . And trust me growing some seeds will really have you depending on Jesus . Early in our marriage, while raising four children, we elected to become 100% debt-free. It took a few years, but we achieved our goal. In 1986, I left the corporate world to start my one business. Older businessmen counseled me, and the one counsel I rejected was to have a line of credit with a bank. I reasoned that my customers would be paying for everything. By carefully developing trusted relationships with high-quality suppliers, we earned excellent credit with them. We retired about seven years ago, debt free, with a nest egg to live out our lives on and faith in God. Despite our debt-free situation, the next depression will deal harshly with us, even more so with my neighbors, who are laden with debt.

Your view sounds much more realistic than some well meaning but frankly NAIVE who think that because we love Jesus everything is going to be painless. This coming economic storm, DEPRESSION is a once in a hundred year event which I believe MOST people have no idea how big an event it will be. AMERICA has been riding the winners wave since the end of WWII. Prosperity has been available in many ways for hard working right minded prudent citizens. What is coming will shake a generation to the core. Yes if we focus on our GOD, JESUS he will get us through. We need to understand that our GOD does not promise smooth sailing but he does offer a a safe landing. Ultimately we will arrive in his presence.

Absolutely not, this was built on selfishness and short term gains. How to start preparing. Take three days during the work week and turn off your electric and water. Make do with what you can and write down things you needed and didn't have or tasks that were difficult. After you have this list, research alternatives Eat, wear and consume cheaper. Choose cheaper meals to create room in your grocery budget to put back food. Wear second hand clothes or put a spending freeze on clothes shopping in order to make room to buy what you'll need for the future (especially if you have small children who grow frequently). Consume less electricity, gas, propane by finding alternatives. This may mean using a crock pot, hang drying clothes, using candles at night and opening windows for sunshine during the day etc. With the wiggle room you've created in those bills you now have some money to buy more food storage, medical supplies or invest in a small solar unit. Make an edc bag. This is something you will carry all the time (on your person or in your car) that could provide you with what you and your family need for 3 nights. Think about what you may put into an overnight bag if you were to stay at a hotel. This will ensure even if something happens and you're out you're able to shelter in place Understand how to take care of medical emergencies at home. Remember that in a major event, ems could be down or unavailable for sometime. While this is never the first line of defense in an emergency, understanding how to manage medical emergencies (high infections, deep wounds, pneumonia, asthma attacks, shock, 2nd and 3rd degree burns, poisoning, radiation sickness, torn ligaments, allergic reactions, excessive bleeding) while you wait on help can be life and death. Food, water, temperature control are your highest priorities. If faced with a major event where services are limited for more than 3 days, having stored food as well as a way to cook, a way to filter and store water, and a way to keep yourself cool or warm can be life altering. Please remember as we are entering or for some of us are already in uncertain times, having this foundation gives security as well as lowers stress. It allows us to feel more in control and gain a more positive perspective on not only our lives but the world. I'm willing to answer any questions from my own experience in the comments if you feel overwhelmed!

I've managed to stay out of debt. I had a $10K student loan once. As part of a job onboarding process. If I stayed in state and worked in that industry for 4 years it would pay itself off. But I left that state to make $10K more per year and paid it off the hard way. While between jobs for six months I didn't pay on that debt. Then paid $500-ish, and NONE of that payment went to reduce the principal. So I did that math and I was basically paying $70 a month to owe money. So when I could I was paying $1K a month to get rid of that. Delayed by a car accident, but accomplished. I could never make the math work for relationships or kids. So I never pursued them. 50+ and live with my mother, even though I lived on my own a decade plus. My car is 18+yo and I drive 60+ miles a day for a job. Which I'm grateful to have. Logic says I shouldn't be, but I am. 50+, 12 hour shifts, manual labor, 60+ miles a day. Somehow that math works out. But wife, kids, house, I could never make those numbers work, even in my head.

The more I hear of pretty much every topic (economics, international relations, climate change, etc.), the more I am vindicated in my decision to not have fathered a child. I do not want to see my offspring suffer through what is to come. Honestly, the outcome I see is World War 3 with nuclear weapons. Once the global economy collapses, all safeguards preventing another global conflict are pretty much gone.

For me, it was much the same, but I'm gonna add one more thing to the list: I don't want to give birth to a child in a world where pedophilia is happening (Hollywood, D.C., kidnappings, etc). I don't think I'd ever be able to forgive myself if I brought a child to this planet, especially intentionally.

Living for now in my younger years ended in failure, I continued to wake up each day. The problems were always the same. My own actions and my lack of money.

I stumbled across your video and I am glad I watched. I am a single mother working one job. If i am being honest, I am horrible at saving money. I live in an apartment paying as much as I wouls if I bought a house. Unfortunately I am so scared to purchase a home. Crime is rampant in my city. There are no more laws for officers to enforce because the prosecutors won't prosecute. If I put a down payment on a home I am left with nothing in my bank account. I am scared and confused. I just don't kniw what to do.

Never put yourself in a situation that will leave you cash poor. If you feel or are safe where you are, than you would feel in a house, stay put. There is always the devil you know, vs the devil you don't. You know your area and how to function in it. If you would be less familiar, or more vulnerable in another environment, think hard. Many things are more important than your physical location. With times as precarious as they are becoming, familiarity may be paramount. Houses are expensive beyond a mortgage. Appliances break down, roofs leak, plumbing goes haywire, electrical systems break down. If you will have no savings left, how will you cope with those things. If you are fortunate to have a landlord who makes those repairs, and timely, you are in a better situation to confront the fallout from them. I've owned a home for about five years. In that time, the a/c, furnace, and roof had to be replaced, as well as wiring that was improperly done. My savings also dwindled by several thousand $$. I am looking to downsize, as this property has started to become too hard to manage on my own. I'm not trying to discourage or influence you one way or the other. Just saying there are many many things to look into, to consider. I wish you all the best. I'm 69 years young. Thanks for letting me be your mom for a minute. God bless you and your family and keep you safe.

Don’t buy now. Not without a huge Down payment. How secure is your job? If you buy a house and can’t pay your payments bye bye house. Look to see if you can move in with relatives. Share the expenses and put up as much food as you can. If you can manage it buy real gold and silver, the kind you have in your hand. In Canada they expect 30% of home owner will lose their homes if the interest rates keep climbing, and they will. 30% of families with literally nowhere to go. And if they lose their jobs because the economy keeps falling what next? Living in a car?

I’m no expert, but if you can purchase a property I’d go down that route. Not sure of your age, however, ask yourself - what is the plan when you retire, will you have funds to pay for rent when potentially you could purchase and pay off a mortgage by the time you retire and have security of sorts for your child.

I depend on God each day, pray, & read Bible scriptures, I listen to uplifting music & thank God for each day he blesses me with. I tell myself I'm beautiful everyday even when I don't feel it because it's confidence for myself. I'm trying to remain positive & upbeat through this phase of life. “Go buy 26:37 what you can afford“. Easier said than done. Where I live there is no affordable public transportation, everything is spread out over miles so you can’t walk anywhere in a timely manner. Bicycling is super dangerous here because the drivers are the worst in the country. And I can’t rely on a ride from anyone everywhere because no one is available or they get really bitchy about having to drive you everywhere. If I buy a beater car, it will break down right at the worst possible moment. I had one that the drivers side door fell off while I was driving 35 mph. The roads here are so bad that everyone has a chipped windshield. The roads are cheaply maintained because my state is poor. I work full time and then some and still can’t climb out of my financial hole. I live in a motel at 35 lol. I can’t live with my mom because she is on housing assistance and can’t have anyone live with her or her assistance goes away. My sister lives with a hoarder so that’s not safe. I’ve lived in my car which is worth less than I owe on it. I have no one else to rely on but myself. Fix inflation and keep wages the same or higher for the lowest earners. That’s the only way me and everyone else I know will get out of this.

Now that we are entering the age of AI, we really need to redefine our concept of economy. In the not too distant future, AI will do most, if not all of the work that humans currently do. We only have a couple of decades at most to figure out how we want this new economy to work (because AGI will surely be here by then), so if we truly are headed into a global depression, then perhaps that makes this as good a time as any to come up with the new economic model, and begin to implement it.
