After 2.5 years since its release, I found myself returning to this project with a renewed appreciation. Despite the backlash it received, I believe it was not a terrible idea, contrary to what some have argued in the comment section. Sampling classical music in pop and hip-hop is an even more common practice these days, and this project had the potential to benefit from the trend with the right audience. Gould's playing demand careful attention to its dynamics, in contrast to the programmed and quantized instrumentation typical to the genre. It creates a more engaging listening experience. Also, Gould's distinctive playing style is particularly well-suited to loop into the highly simplistic rhythms that are popular today. I only wish that this project had received better marketing and featured more prominent artists.

I love this track. I'd not heard of GG before, and like many others I've now discovered the original GG recordings as a consequence. So theres's the positive....but I can't get past the intention to pass this off as the official GG channel and artist profile. The GG estate might be able to clarify that, but as it stands......dubious

Being a Gould devotee for life, my first thought was that Glenn would have been furious at this. However, given his enormous sense of humor, he probably would have just been amused. The photo you have posted of his gorgeous face sullied with purple ink and the words "red light" pisses me off, though.

God I love this piece.. but I agree with others. I’d rather listen to the sinfonia.. only because Bach’s work alone is the greatest music I’ve ever heard.. I do like what you guys are doing tho and I’m glad there’s people out there who recognize Gould’s amazing playing.. still not sure it should be flooding Gould’s you tube channel tho.

I can’t understand why these mixes are published under Gould’s name . There is no problem with making a mix with his recordings , I just don’t understand the use of his name and face. It’s not like it’s the main point of the mixes.

I've left a similar comment on other videos featuring this ilk, but the gist is that this 'official' Glenn Gould KZread channel is owned by Primary Wave Music, which also owns the rights to most of Glenn Gould's music and images. That company is also the 'brains' behind the Uninvited Guests project, which you, like thousands of Gould fans around the world, has decried as having nothing to do with Gould's musicianship, genius or impact on popular culture. It's a shame, but please know that the Glenn Gould Foundation is NOT responsible for the content of these videos. It is, rather, Primary Wave Music, a music publishing company with offices in NYC, LA and London. Blame them!

I personally think that Glenn Gould would’ve been maybe OK with these. They used his music, and Gould did splice his recordings. What he wouldn’t have approved of though is the swearing in the lyrics of most of these songs, since Gould did NOt have the tongue of a sailor. Without the lyrics, I would’ve liked this, it’s not bad but with lyrics...no.

@@pianosbloxworld4460 i agree here with you i didnt bother listening to the other songs because i definitely dont think gould would have approved of some of the songs, but this one in my opinion was mixed wonderfully. no need to mix rap lyrics or anything. good kinda high isnt terrible though.

Ugh it’s sooo irritating hearing that fragment from the sinfonia and not hearing the melody in full.

I am a fan of glenn gould. And i agree with you. I have more than 30 of his records and this does not make sense at all.

Why? I like HipHop and Metal and everything but I love Classical and mainly Gould playing Bach, why did u have to change it to beats and rap? I guess to try and sell something but I gotta tell ya it sucks. Doesn't work at all. Please stop.

Why not create a Beatles album with some random samples of Let It Be/Yellow Submarine/Abbey Road and claim it's a new original The Beatles album. The project is ok but why the Glenn Gould name on the cover as if he is the author, it's an insult to Gould's heritage.

He may have been into it but I still think it is not justified to name the album Glenn Gould. He did not create any of those.

I don’t blame the artists for this travesty, I blame the GG Foundation. Someone there lost their senses, and their mind, and thought this was a good idea. Extremely disappointed.

As you may know by now, I did a little investigating and confirmed that this 'caca' project is the brainchild of Primary Wave Music, a music publishing company that also owns this 'official' Glenn Gould KZread channel. The Glenn Gould Foundation is actually completely separate from both this KZread channel, and this project, but chose to keep its opinions about this poo poo to itself, which I think shows savvy and maturity. Ummm...People, please ...Get Over yourselves. This music actually works on Many levels - Including acquiring New listeners to Mr. Gould's catalogue... And you Could try one of the following: (A) Acupressure point along your wrist called the nei-kuan, (B) Licorice root to soothe stomach acid irritation/indigestion, or (C) The herbs ginger and peppermint both have research to support its use for motion sickness and nausea. Finally: If you’re a passenger, consider taking the wheel of the vehicle. If driving isn’t an option, face the direction in which you’re traveling. WHAT KIND OF MACABROUS JOKE IS THIS ? I feel furious about STEALING Glen Gould's work, without his autorization, and printing over its some low rate idiots, just for making some more money. The day some of this guys may play one theme with one hand and an improvised fuge, with other, or hum the melody whan playing,they may think on learning from the Master, but this ? THIS IS EXECRABLE
