I’m nearing the end of my life and every time I listen to this song I’m reminded of my youth. Mom and dad were alive and my brothers and sister were living at home. I feel like I was born at the right time. To the future I say this. “ Enjoy the music my generation left you”.

Thirty years ago. I took a small jet to turn myself in at Allenwood Federal Prison Camp to do some time. I used to listen to this song because I had left without saying goodbye to anyone. We had a lake, a bocce court and gym, no fences and an old abandoned church with cemetery we could use. I became successful after I got out and now I'm retired. I've just heard the most uplifting story when Glen came to my home town of Halifax, England in the 1980s Glen enjoyed his time in Halifax having the chraic with the locals before his sell out concerts. He frequented the pub the Plummet Line on a few occasions enjoying the local ales. So much so that the lass working behind the bar cooked him apple pie of which he looked forward to on his return, on his request. (Halifax Courier have an excellent article) I personally had to see Glen and did so in Manchester on his last tour of the UK. Boy, that was some emotional concert. God bless you Glen. X

Been out of life for a few years and was thinking about Glen and his songs and clicked on this and didn’t know he had died. Leaving on a jet plane was the first song I learned and preformed in 5 th grade on my guitar. I loved all of his songs and remember seeing him on all of the late 60’s/ 70’s shows on tv preforming. Sad that I just found out. What a great performer, singer and musician. Will be missed alot

You can only say one thing about Glen Campbell. The Best.
"Galveston" brings back memories of when I first moved to Tallahassee. And immediately had to come back to Jacksonville twice, for draft physicals as the Viet Nam War raged. And how much my older brother was the wind beneath my wings as I attended Florida State University and worked in his music store and recording studio. Even with the bad times, those were the great times. Thank the Lord.
One of the greatest musicians of the last 60 years
I've just heard the most uplifting story when Glen came to my home town of Halifax, England in the 1980s Glen enjoyed his time in Halifax having the chraic with the locals before his sell out concerts. X

I used to dream of being like the "Rhinestone Cowboy". Unfortunately, reality set in and the dreams were all that were left. Thank you, Glen, for my dreams. RIP.

I love listening to Glen. I always smile when I hear him sing but there is always a little sadness because he is gone now. Such a bad end for a great talent. I MISS HIM.

"Time and time I tried to tell her so, she just didn't know I would really go." Such a simple phrase says so much. What a thrill to hear these songs again and an honor to have something so etched in the hearts of Texas: Beautiful Galveston
simply one of the best records of all time - glen nails it
RIP Glen you'll ALWAYS be remembered
Galveston and Jimmy Webb perfectly capture a moment in time back in 1968 when so many young men were in Vietnam wondering if their girl back home was still waiting for them. I was 18 in 1968 and that poor GI sitting on a hilltop firebase in Vietnam could have been me.
To think that one person combined so much talent side by side. A fantastic vocalist , and an even greater instrumentalist. Wow , just wow. RIP.
Such a sad song . But sang to perfection
I was a mere child in the 60s, then a young teenager in the early 70s. Whilst my friends were into more conventional rock etc of the era, which I was to a degree - but it was Glen's music back then (being very popular with my parents etc) really touched myself as well - superb voice and talent. Greatly missed.
