Seriously. As the only black girl in the class, she should've had more of a "Spotlight " throughout the series, atleast while she was on the show. And her and that boyfriend of hers were perfect together. ❤

Yeah, definitely, he was such a good guy... I wish we could learn more about him... He was always supportive of her and the Glee Club. And even when Mercedes broke up with him to go with Sam, he was happy that she found happiness...

One of my absolute favorite Mercedes performances of the entire show!!

I love how the show had this Dreamgirls story going on the whole time with Will, Rachel and Mercedes.

Omg when she walks around Rachel and Shue was iconic.

Mercedes was THE vocal powerhouse on that show! Idc what anybody says! I hated how they hyped up Rachel and Kurt. They never gave others the full credit and flowers they deserved.

@@thebeysment8439 omg I just realized this was from 3 MONTHS AGO that means I had like *just* started getting obsessed with Glee and hadn't even started watching it yet (it's a *REEEEALLY* long story but I like know every single storyline in the whole entire show and I've only watched up to season 2 episode 15 😂😂 so apparently I already knew about Blaine lol - I found out about Glee because of Kurt's actor, Chris Colfer, so of course I knew a buttload about Kurt before I knew about anyone else in the whole show 😂😂) wow that was a very long story I'm sorry if you read the whole thing 👏👏👏 but good job if you did I ramble A LOT when it comes to Kurt/Glee lol

I dont get why Mercedes get crap about being 'selfish'. Rachel is always in her own little world where she thinks she is the only one who matter. If she was the only one who mattered then the show would be called 'Rachel Berry' but its not its called "Glee" as in everyone matters. I know shes considered the born star, but i dont CARE! Rachel alwasy gets EVERYTHING all the GOD DAMN TIME. She gets to skip boody camp cuz she "practices at home" Yah no body ask you Finn!!!!! Mercedes was a born star too who should get the spot light. LIKE THE SONG!!!! Mercedes is just as good as Rachel maybe better? But its not fair that no matter how hard she tries, Rachel is always getting the treatment. Is not "Rachel club" Its fudgin "GLEE CLUB" for the losers. Rachel needs to toot it or boot it. Why cant she just get kicked out for a week or something. Santana got kicked for physical HELPING to burn a piano. Rachel is making everyone feel like they did before they joined glee club, that they dont MATTER!!! Tina had like 3 solos, ONE OF THEM WAS A DREAM!!!! Rachel is so high on her horse, shes in the freaking clouds. What the heck, i dont get it. She gets EVERYTHING!!!!!!! Then when she dosent get the solo ONCE, ONE FLIPPING TIME, she goes all, "Mr. Schue, you dont give me anything! I never do Solos, this is so unfair." Then storms out the room like, "I quit until i get what i want! Im the STARRRRRRRRR." THEN FLIPS HER HAIR. The one time i root for Quinn was when she slapped the girl at prom. Then she's like, "i got in." when she followed Carmen Tibido everywhere, and choked twice on her audition... TWICE!!!!!! Kurt was like, "i didnt get in." WHAT, WHY NOT????? RACHEL WAS BETTER?!?!?! NOPE! Because she saw the show!!!!!. I dont give to flurries about that. Its not fair that she gets everything she wants. OK sorry. Rachel is like my 5th fav character, but the writers give her too much power. I only like her in season 5 and 6. LOL sorry for long comment

Åsåçiå M Rachel got a lot of things because Lea Michele is Ryan Murphy's favorite. I love Lea and she is incredibly talented but I do agree that a lot of other characters were neglected because of the attention Rachel was getting. My favorite was Quinn and she got neglected too, and the way she was written was inconsistent because Rachel needed a rival of some kind. I liked Rachel in Season 1 and somewhat in Season 2, then she became annoying for me in Season 3 and 4 and then I liked her in Season 5 and 6. Particularly 6 where I think she finally grew out of her selfishness.

And Rachel was like (paraphrasing): I don’t know… maybe because you try too hard to be liked whereas I would do practically anything to be a star, which I’m not saying is healthy but it’s true

Hands down one of my favorite performances from the whole series

Now that we know what a nightmare Lea was behind the scenes and how much control Ryan Murphy gave her over the show, I wonder if Amber was still seeing Lea and not Rachel while she walked around her when singing!

Ryan Murphy doesn't like that shade of straight black males. You ever notice he NEVER had any dark shade straight black males on the show as a character in the Glee choir? Lord knows he never let us sing. We're only good for playing football players. Not having a dark shade straight black male in a world of singing is like having an NBA & NFL school with no black males. I'm still in shock that show went six seasons and not even one dark skined straight black male came on the show as a guest? Not once? Oh wait, he let the darker black male from the deaf school have about four words in season 1, episode 11 hairography. Bravo Mr. Murphy. Bravo 😡😡😡

I said the same thing and when they finally got a black guy he was light skin biracial...the one guy I could identify with had no lines and was replaced by a blonde white guy! He was a great dancer.

Got fauxed wit all the time about the size of his mouth, and he STAYED thirsty on that one black chick until the end of the series. He even said, "I don't care how big and bad your boyfriend is" in season 3 to Mercedes when he came back from being homeless. Sheeeet! Not scared of her boyfriend? Say word? You see that ninja Shane? Honestly there seemed to be a lot of internal racism on Glee which just got more and more embarrassing as the series went on. Like wth was with the segregation between Tina & Mike and all the other Glee cast members?? Why didn’t Mercedes live in the apartment with Rachel and everybody else in NYC?? jesus christ it was super cringe 🥴

@@cheechee6473 because Mercedes needed to have at least one black girl friend. I will give (GLEE/Ryan Murphy) that. They did well with that in the last season. Remember Mercedes two friends that met Sam? It was nice to see Merecedes was capable of having black friends. In all of the seasons, she never did. Ryan Murphy really doesn't like us. I am proud of the show and what it did though. As much as me and maybe every other black person may complain about our own strife. There is more than just us in the world. There was a lot of demographics and issues with specific type of minorities that Ryan Murphy did tackle. Kurt and what he went through in season 2? That relationship with him and his dad. I know I changed and forever evolved in the way I looked or cared to bother to listen to that demographic. Good comment though 👌🏾

I mean, there was a dark skinned black dude in the Glee Project, but he didn't sang well enough (for all I know) to enter in the show. There was also a black straight trans man in the Glee Project that while not dark skinned, he wasn't biracial like Jake.

I am sure a very famous lady of the name of Hudson is like "yeaaah that version is better", underrated singer , kind of pisses me off that a producer is not taking care of her carriere seriously, we want her back, her voice makes us travel inside our own lives

Rachel Berry is very jealousy of Mercedes's performance song of Spotlight.🎤

Ok so, after the performance Artie should have thanked Mercedes for her time and sent her way. Why? Because this was an audition for a musical. Mercedes turned it into an R&B performance with background singers. Meanwhile Rachel went out there and left everything on the stage in one of her most passionate performances on Glee. I get that they needed to give Mercedes a song about spotlights, but they could have given her a ballad at the very least.

Rachel shouldn't have been Maria anymore that Mercedes should've - she belted the Barbara Streisand version of 'Somewhere' - I have nothing against Barbara Streisand's version of 'Somewhere', but to play Maria you have to be able to sing the original version of the song, a quieter form of hopefulness and vulnerability without overdoing the expressions or teary eyes. I'm sorry neither of them had the right voice for Maria.

Mercedes was not different than Rachel, the only thing she cared about was being LEAD. The thing is than Rachel was willing to work for it… Mercedes on the other hand she was so arrogant and get offended when someone says she need to practice or take dancing lessons

you did not just say that. mercedes put the work in, and she was an amazing vocalist. she didn’t care being the lead, i mean she never complained about anything until season 3. the most she did was leave the glee club and get santana and brittany to come too. rachel treated her like shit ever since sophomore year and she deserved better.

I agree and disagree with that. Mercedes should've practiced more, particularly her dance moves, but there were times when Rachel wanted the lead even if she didn't earn it too.

Mercedes:shows up everyday and works,never storms out even when she is not receiving a fair amount of opportunities and is revealed to be on her church chier so she gets extra singing practice thorigh there. Yeah she totally doesn't work hard
