We spent 1 night backpacking camping along the Appalachian Trail from Maine to Georgia in Central Pennsylvania's Michaux State forest. We parked and hiked in a mile to tumbling run shelter. Cooked our own food over a campfire and enjoyed our time. Then my friends taught me/showed me up snowboarding at Liberty Mountain resort in central PA. Please note that you must hike at least 1 mile to any Appalachian trail shelter for it to be considered backpacking and not car camping.
