I love Maximus because he is an ideal character, not a Mary Sue, or Gary Stu in his case, but he is a type of character I love because he is good, honorable, has integrity, is humble, and cares for others, and he can kick some serious butt. It’s a refreshing break from all the overblown “morally grey” characters that everyone talks up.

I am hearing this version of Gladiator for the first time and I have goosebumps all over my body. It's not just the film that's incredibly good, but above all it's the soundtrack by Hans Zimmer. Please everyone like this awesome cut together of The Battle from the original soundtrack "Gladiator". Now that there's a remake of Gladiator coming up, I really don't know how anyone can even get close to the original.

I always loved this soundtrack. I lost a good friend lately (natural causes) we met in school. Both of us loved history and we joined a historical society (Rome) we were in Legio XIII Germina for 30 years. Been rather sentimental about it recently. Travelled all over Europe, camped out in all weather's, sparred together, went hungry together. Got blisters and pains from hikes, went to each others homes for family bbqs, birthdays etc. Kicked the stuffing out of opposing insane people 😂He was a brother to me and I'm Godfather to his two sons. I know its laughed upon, but the hobby and the history bought us together as family once you've lost a finger (my fault) march, go hungry or cold and bleed for someone it does bind you. The best places we ever visited were Croatia/Dalmatia, France and Britain although the latter was cold. Spain was nice, Italy had the best crowd and food. Germania is not desirable in winter but is good in summer. Greece was alright. I do miss those times a lot, older and greyer now and seeing our sons take up the mantle and love for history is superb. He will always be my brother and I'm happy that when I go, we'll meet again and drink that vinegar wine. Roma Victor Marc!

When I was little I would watch this over and over again on DVD at the time of 2003. I was little and would skip all the battle scenes cause my little brain was only able 2 retain so much information. Especially for such an adult movie. I'm happy I fell in love with this kind of movie.
