glacier bay dual flush toilet not flushing properly. do not replace until you try this!
Our toilet was not flushing 4 years after installing. Tried to change all water settings in the tank. Held the buttons down longer. used a pitcher of water to help flush. Found that the main flush from the tank was clogged in the bowl. Little hole opposite of the waste exit at the back of the bowl.
Full of hard water scale and sludge. Had to use my finger but will be buying a brush to keep this clean.

You win the internet! Worked perfectly, thanks for sharing this!
Just past the 7 year mark with this toilet from home Depot. WAS told to never buy a 100 dollar toilet. Since I realized I needed to clean out all the Low volume flush openings throughout the toilet it has been working like brand new. I too had resorted to using a flush jug or pitcher of water to aid in flushing. No more mess since I cleaned out that darn secondary flush opening!!!! Yay.. good luck to everyone who has found this video and not had to change out their toilet.
Some people have Said this has worked on their toilet and it wasn't glacier bay. I'm happy to help. Update: a lot of people are using a bent coat hanger to clean the hole. Others are using lime away to help clean. Menards sells a toilet acid by Zep that does an awesome job cleaning the lime and scale out of the toilet. Seems bleach doesn't do much besides Warp the rubber parts in your tank. Thanks for all the good words. Keep them all flushing! Also look at the little holes up under the rim. If you use a hanger you might unclog those little holes too. My toilet brush and the bar keepers friend seems to do a good job on mine. And no I am not paid for my advice. I was just happy I didn't blow 400 bucks on a new toilet. 😁 One guy told me to start taking Venmo, it was worth 20 to him for my help. Go figure!!! So, happy flushing to everyone!
Thank you mine was really clogged. I’ve seen other videos they said something about it but I was like mine doesn’t have that whole then I typed in the toilet name and found your video and you said the same thing but explained a little bit better and I poked around down there and found out. Yeah there’s a whole crazy never had a toilet back up like that.which that much hard calcium I could’ve swore up and down that there was no hole there Thank you again save me from buying another toilet

Highly suggest everyone try this fix first. This worked for me too, and the other videos I’ve seen showed people replacing the entire bowl and flush unit. I even had a plumber with 30yrs experience come out to fix my toilet and he said “that’s weird” after trying everything he knew (even cleaning out main line and running a camera to see any issues. Thank you for locating this fix.
OMG. Thank you so much. I’ve been having this problem for a while, and was afraid I’d have to call a plumber or replace it. Your solution worked. Much thanks!
Wow im so thrilled that it actually worked. My husband snaked it last week and no fix.. this was the fix. Thank you. I have to show him this.
You are a God! Replaced everything on this toilet and still had issues until I tried this. I love you more than my own mother.

Glad it worked for you. I spent weeks/ months watching videos to find a fix. Replace the insides and almost replaced until I found the hole that was plugged up
Oh, thank god I found this video. Unfortunately, I had already purchased a new flush valve which didn't solve the problem. I was thinking the toilet was possibly clogged in the drain. Ours is a Costco dual flush by Wateridge and this fixed it. Thanks again.

Glad to hear it fixed your problem. My folks have a regular flush and it helped them as well. Not just the dual flush anymore! 👍
Holy shit! You were right on! Worked like a charm. I used a small bottle brush, and a (pair of gloves )lol thanks you sir.

I'm glad this is still helping people after two years. Our glacier bay is still installed and going strong. Going to do a bathroom remodel and actually keep the toilet. Just might take it into the yard and hit it with the high pressure washer to clean out all the little cracks and crevasses. Thanks for your response and glad it worked for you!!! 👍
Thank you so much! This fixed my problem when I thought I would have to replace it. I have a different brand dual flush push button toilet I got from Sam's Club about 5 years ago and lately I've been having to hold the button down. It kept getting worse where sometimes I'd have to flush multiple times. Multiple online searches only resulted in people talking about tank issues and none of those tips fixed my issue. I'm so glad I came across this video. I never would have guessed it was the second hole clogged with build up. I used some Lime Away and then I was able to break off the build up. My toilet flushes like normal again! I think I need to get a short plastic scrapper. It's a difficult angle to get in there and also not being able to see in there. You saved me! I'm so grateful you posted this video! Thank you!

I don't think they want us to know about this. Even my mom had the same problem with her toilet and it was a regular flush toilet. Go figure. I also know your struggles. We we using a pitcher of water to dump in the bowl as we flushed just to get everything to go down. I guess this is just a dirty little secret... Good luck to you.
OMG THANK YOU... been dealing with this issue for months and couldn't figure it out... saved me so much money, I was about to start replacing parts!!
If I had an extra million dollars, I would send it to you. I spent hours replacing everything, and lo and behold, I happened across this video, and that was the problem. Thank you!

So strange they don't tell you about the flush hole locations can get plugged with hard water and keep it from flushing correctly. Glad you found the video and it helped you.
That's a million I just did what you and it worked . Gracias from Redford Michigan.
Thanks!!! Fixed my daughter's Glacier Bay dual flush toilet. Wouldn't hardly flush at all before, now it's flushes great. I used a metal coat hanger to probe into the hole. I could feel at least two small passages in there, which I reamed out with the hanger.

You are a life saver. I was having the same problem and couldn’t figure it out to save my life. My wife was getting upset with me. So I stuck my hand in there and sure enough it was almost completely clogged

Good deal. We also had a pitcher full of water we were using to help flush the toilet. Embarrassing when guest were visiting. Never again have we had to use it.
Best fix ever. Great job. Thank you for posting this video.
Omg this worked! You saved my time and money, wow I used hanger and it’s all build up inside and water became cloudy and later all the build up yellowish like sand build up rock picked up with my hands and then flushed it and it worked so smoothly, jeez thank you so much
THANK YOU!!!!! Had same problem...about to do plumber search on a fixed income. God Bless!

I'm glad people are finding this. I was ready to give in. Was told many times, just replace it. But I just couldn't get past the idea that it had to have something wrong that could be fixed. I understand all these low volume toilets have the same problem whether push button or not.
Thanks! That was the problem. I was about to take the toilet tank apart to replace the dual flush valve and then saw your video. We had some water main work where a lot of dirt came in after the utility fixed the main. The toilet started to have problems a month later.

We were ready to replace! I found this out by accident and now besides using acid cleaner for toilets I still run something in that hole to keep it cleaned out. It's flushing better than when it was new. Glad it worked for you 😊

Glad it worked for you. My parents live on a farm with rural water. Their new toilet wasn't working correctly after 6 months. Totally different brand and not even a low flow toilet but same problem. I cleaned out the extra flush jet hole and now it flushs like new. Funny how they don't tell us this can be a problem. Just hire a plumber and replace it??? What a joke. So thank you for your comments
Thank you so much. Thank you.
😮 thank you so much!!!!
Thank you sir!
Works amazing! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One more for this fix! So happy !
You just saved me a billion dollars, thank you sir! 🫡

@@vroor32 oh no me and my husband have 2. A 4 year old and an 11 year old. I showed my husband this and he had the same response I had. We’ve both had to fish things out of the toilet from kids before. But no way would either of us stick out fingers in the toilet bowl hole. No way 🤣🤣🤮🤮. The coat hanger the op suggested worked like a charm a year ago. I’ve actually noticed the last couple days the toilet not going down well again so since your comment just reminded me I’m gonna go do that now haha

OMG! My toilet is fixed thanks to your video! I ended up using a 1/4" self-tapping bolt to clear the opening. Is there a better tool for this? There's not a lot of space for most tools.

Freakin hero, thanks!
Great idea, but unfortunately i have a new toilet, i tried this just incase and no dice. My toilet when i press low or high flush wants to discard the water, but most of it doesn't flush.
My issue is generally the toilet flushes fine but now it takes 30 to 90 seconds to start refilling. It has begun happening on a second toilet now. Perhaps i am on the way to the same non filling issue?

Kind of sounds like a float problem maybe. I'm lucky not to have those internal problems.
Do not replace any toilet if it isn't flushing properly before you try this fix.

These toilets are weak and get clogged on normal use. You should replace it

Been another year and a half. Good maintenance and for $100 it has lasted, going on 7 years. Can't beat that. I'll replace when I have to, otherwise... No
