GIVING CHASE OF ELS 600 (FP7A) LEADING THIS FREIGHT TRAIN NORTH! | Jason Asselin
Ойын-сауық
Sure enough, watch ELS 600 built as MILW 96A (FP7A) heads back north with the nose leading the way and ELS 503 as the secondary power. First stop is in Iron Mountain, MI at the historic railroad depot where 1,000's of people have traveled thru when Milwaukee Road ran passenger service thru here. Then off north we go all the way to Channing, MI along with a small group of rail-fans who drove over 2 hours to get here today!

We can count on Jason to get the shot. An "F Unit" in the lead going through beautiful north woods country with some snow. Love the oscillating light on the front of 600. 👍X100.
I absolutely love F units. had a Lionel Santa Fe Red and silver F unit when i was young. Fell on some hard times early in my marriage and had to sell it
The flashing light beacon on the 600 is particularly cool.
Great shot from the bridge with the 600 leading the way, the evergreens, and light dusting of snow.👍
10:34. Those cars a rockin'!!!
Well now Jason! What a brilliant chase and great to see 600 at work with 503. You were right about 600 leading after the run south yesterday. Thanks so much

I would travel over two hours to catch that beauty too, fantastic chase footage. Wherever you stopped was a great spot.

Enjoying your channel Jason! Railfan here in Iowa that is rather new to these videos but am enjoying them nonetheless. I'm not sure what it is, but there's something I really enjoy more about shortline railroads than the traditional big boys. Good job! Fun chase!

Great job chasing and filming. Wonderful to see the old girl still earning her keep. Last E's I saw in revenue service were early 80s Amtrak, and Fs were Southern Railway's Piedmont in 1976. Very cool!
Great chase, racking up the miles. The bridge and curve shots were the best. Thanks.

That is a most unusual EMD FP-7, with dual fans at the rear, as seen in your shot from the overpass! Wonder what the other device is, that sticks up, at the rear?

Yesterday I had a hunch 600 would be in the lead, heading north. Thing is, I'd like to know where the two ex Conrail units are? The E&LS really shoud track down an original horn for the 600. That thing it uses now just sounds lame.
nice

Did you count the log cars??? Yep you guessed it. Nice how you are attracting more fans.. All coming to see you not just the trains! Lol
Hi JASON, you gave us a great chase. The scenery was great, the action was great, and the commentary was really informative. Do you think 600 will pull any passenger excursions anytime soon? That would be a sight to see. P.S In case you don't know it, we have a barn burner senate race going on down here in Ga that could effect the balance of power in the Senate. Merry Christmas, take care, be safe and thanks for the video. (the kitty's pal from Ga)

Watching some of your posts from Oz. Good photography in this post of the train snow and scenery. I imagine you get a lot of snow in winter. Does the timber come from plantation or forest?

My profits go higher with new videos, but I could do nothing and still make a living.. With over 2000 vids up, it just makes money every day if I do anything or not.
a amazing catch Jason, thanks. Is the line dark territory or is it signaled? thanks again and have Merry Christmas.
@tomy6917
3 жыл бұрын
At one time this was signaled territory many years ago. The semaphore signal at the Iron Mountain station was for train orders & manually operated (from what I was told) but again, that was many years ago, too. In Jason's videos, you see the old pole lines that once held the signal system wires. Also, I think one time before I had seen a semaphore signal way in the background in one of Jason's videos (I'll have to ask him if there are any other semaphores left (they're of course non-operating now).
@jasonasselin

They only have so many crews and they always know where they operate. Crivitz, WI is a focal point and a yard they use, no signals and rarely use the radio.
Early in video downtown, the engineer gives a wave. Obviously to the other rail fans not you. Lol. Nice chase
