This windscreen works ok on my VStrom. I’m 6’2” and don’t ride with mine extended to the top - only about mid way. In conjunction with numerous pics on Instagram and Discord, a very thorough review showing how you use it. Nice video for anyone considering purchase for any bike.

Hello Dave, it is thanks to a V-Strom rider that I bought mine. It seems to be a great (If unattractive) design. I saw the screen you have on the Tenere 700 is working well. Interested to see how it does on your long-distance trip. - Frank
Thanks Frank, you have been a great help with this. Mywife could kill me if I bought 5 wind screens. Ha

@@OneOldManRiding I believe you Frank. I never tried it. :)
Since we have two 390's, we are able to experiment "in real time". We put the AF7710 on one of the bikes, leaving the stock screen on the other. I find that the stock screen leaves a lot of buffeting on the chest and some on the helmet. The AF7710 takes all the buffeting away from your chest BUT makes my head vibrate making vision quite a task. Next is to add the 3" clamp-on accessory screen at the top of the AF7710. I am 5'9" and my husband is 6'. His experience is the same as mine. If the accessory screen doesn't do the trick, my next screen will be this 2-pc one (AF7711) that you are using now, Frank. Thank you so much for your honest and concise reviews!

I'm 6" and the helmet vibration from the stick screen for me is a nightmare... Love to hear your expertise of the af7711 if you do go for it.
Looks like a good solution. I suspect there is no perfect solution. Nicely done with the review. Looks like Givi offers it for the V-STROM If I go that route on the next bike. I need to keep this in mind. Thanks!

Hey @DutchCountryBoy - I'm getting my daughter started in riding and she's 5'2" -- I think the 390 would be a perfect bike for her if lowered. Did you lower yours and if so what lowering kit did you use? Since she's a beginner, I want her to at least get the balls of her feet down on pavement so she feels confident. Thanks in advance!
@DutchCountryBoy

@@LouisGiliberto I did lower mine with the Hyperpro kit: progressive front springs (SP-KT03-SSA009) and emulsion rear shock (KT03-0AC). Standard is 30mm lower, but on request it can be lowered to the maximum of 50mm total. Very happy with this, it lowers the bike, but also gains handling in braking, cornering and off-road riding. Con's are: lower height in off-road conditions and expensive (€730,-). But totally worth it to me. Hyperpro is one of the best suspension manufacturers in the world.

All windscreens I have tried are mounted to vertically. Try leaning it back towards you, use a home made bracket or washers etc. I was amazed by results when I was almost looking straight down the screen
I have it in my R1200GS 2006, and it is AWESOME! More protection and w/o tubulence...and I only have it down half the height!!! Your video helped me to decide, so thakns a lot. By the way : the 390 ADV will be the next one, I am downsizing !!!
That's absolutely great and awesome bigbike of yours brother. Love the designed.

It's hard to find a good windscreen for this bike. I might give that one a try. The Rade Garage only works up to about 50mph, which doesn't cut it.
@OneOldManRiding

Hello Matt, it's working very well many months after I made the video. I am convinced that too much air is directed at the rider by the shape of the fairing... Its not possible to get totally clean air as you can on other bikes. I used this to ride 1020 miles in March to South Carolina, then to TN, then back to New York. Average temp was forty. I feel it did an excellent job of keeping the worst if the cold air off of me! I rode several hours last week to the SM500, and it was hot when I got there, I dropped it down and was able to get good airflow. It's ugly, but it is the best screen I have found. - Frank
@gregbenage5864

It's a naked bike, aerodynamically. There's wind coming at you from all directions (especially below) ready to fill the low-pressure pocket created by any windscreen, and that creates turbulence. The best you can do (other than go completely naked) is get lucky enough to find a screen that happens to keep your head mostly out of the vortex, based on your height and riding position. It's been darkly humorous watching your windscreen journey -- I've been down that rabbit hole before. I'm going to stick with the stock flyscreen. It protects my electronics, minimizes the parachute effect, and I can keep my head in clean air as long as I don't slouch. :-|

It works for me with just the inner screen on or with the outer screen in its lowest or highest setting..........anything in between on the outer screen gives me a lot of buffeting. I am 5'10"

I have the tall puig on my 390, I put a shim on the top side of the mount hole. That helped to kill most of the buffet. A small pice of wood did the trick. Did you regear your bike? At 83 you were tacked pretty hight. I am still stock 6k at 70mph.

Hello Edwin, it's carpimoto.it - Frank
I just install one of these on my new 390 and I also had one on my Vstrom 650XT and I think it worked far better on the Vstrom than on the 390. On the Vstrom the front screen is more upright like a rally bike but on the 390 its more laid back , plus I think they could have sized it down a bit as it looks a bit too large for the little 390. IMO

Hello Roy, I agree, it's superior on the VStrom. I am still convinced, trying multiple screens, that the 390 design is causing more air to come up and hit riders than most bikes I have owned. Anyone reading this disregard my above comments. The mod didnt work, in fact it was worse! Solution is get rid of the Airflow as it just doesnt work on this bike well and bought a screen from AliExpress that is a copy of the 790 or 890. Works better and I dont get as much buffetting as the Airflow. IMO
What's with those revvy gear changes?

I have a KTM 890 adventure r and I want this windshield, but I have a question, what happens if I travel offroad with the windshield and the extension installed, in the lowest position, does it work? Because I know I can take the second screen out, but the thing is, where I live, I need to be on the road a lot to find off-road roads, so I need wind protection when I'm traveling on the road, until I get to the roads. dirt, so I need both protections, I raise the windshield when I'm on the road and lower it when I get to the off-road paths, will it work? Or will it vibrate a lot on the ground?

Very good review ! I purchased mine primarily based on your review which I found very descriptive (currently the best on the web). Mine is a Kappa KAF7711, because the Givi AF7711 was out of stock (in Canada) and one was still available from Kappa (Kappa and Givi being sister Italian company. Everything is the same, same material and same price, most likely from the same production line, just stamped differently before leaving the warehouse). Fits like a glove on a new 390 Adv 2023. Your cellular support looks very good and much more optimal than my own setup. Could you share the information and tell me exactly what it is?
