It is not the goal that makes you happy, but the path (process) to it. Set a fixed main goal, but focus on the processes (actions) to get there. What do I have to do every day to get there? What habits do I need to have, etc.? It's best to write in such a way that you have already achieved the goal(present) and then write down everything you need to do to achieve that goal, then prioritize which steps need to be done first, etc. The last step is to do something for your goal every day, every day!

This is very motivational. Going to try this and setup a leading indicator spreadsheet in that app you mentioned.
