Hi I am a black woman from Germany. Unfortunately, what Wendy writes is the widespread opinion of most white Germans. There are almost no salons for Afro hair here, you get thrown out of the other salons because the hairdressers think you're dirty or they suggest you shave off all your hair because what's on your head is ugly, broken and has to be removed. It's also difficult in big cities, I usually pay a lot of money for little service, a lot of hair is pulled out and the cuts are bad, but you always get racism for free. A hairdresser expected me to come to her with freshly washed hair. Styling, care, colour? ... You just get laughed at. The pressure is great, also on the street. Now my white boyfriend cuts my hair and has gotten really good at it. Never has anyone treated my hair so gently, respectfully and lovingly! I cried after the first time because the experience was so memorable. Thank you for your videos and showing and celebrating afro hair as a matter of course. Watching you and other black women show their pride has helped me for years. I love my hair now the way it is! Thank you very much!

YES Jen ! It's all about your mindset and the words you use surrounding your natural hair... take phrases like "the struggle is real" out of your vocabulary. It's only a struggle when you compare your experience to someone who you think has it "easier" because of their texture. If we stop trying to make our hair do what other textures do and allow it to do what it does naturally... we can appreciate our uniqueness and true beauty. And that is not a struggle... it's pure joy 😊 Your strands are outstanding girrrlll ! Thanks for being a shining star truly natural hair loving diva 💖

Please y'all don't give the Wendy's of the world any excuses. The bottom line is she thinks our hair is ugly because of her superiority complex. All the compliments in the world about our natural hair could NEVER change that kind of hate!!!

Thats not the point. The point is YOU teach people how to accept or not accept your hair. You and her have the same mindset only difference is shes white and you call it racism.

@@imdinma9826hmmm not necessarily. White ppl complain about having pale skin all the time and roast themselves on the beach just to get a tan. But does this affect the way others speak about white ppl? They also complain about premature wrinkling and more but yet I’ve never seen a black person or other go online and write such a comment. There’s a superiority complex wrapped in up in her comment.

Cute style! Yes, it's all about that positive self-talk, and living in your hair to learn to love it. If we didn't get that as children we owe it to ourselves to gift it to ourselves. I was lucky and learned to love my hair as a child, but from watching a bazillion YT videos I understand that is not the case for many. Whether we learned it as a child or not there is beauty in our kinky, coily, curly hair. Every twist and turn was given to us as a gift to love, adore, and treat well. Keep teaching that positive hair talk Jen, because it is absolutely needed.

oh wendy has some damn nerve! the worst part is, those ideas get internalized by a lot of us! i remember in HS a classmate said that my 'fro was "soft" and I was so confused. i assumed since i cant run my fingers through my hair easily, it isn't soft. couldn't even take a compliment. now my fave part of a twistout is touching my hair after and feeling its lushness. wendy can have several seats

I agree with everything you stated! I'm Haitian & in my household I never saw an issue with my hair until other people started commenting about it. Yes, wash days sucked and my arms hurt but I didn't really know how to properly take care of it. I started locs because I hated wigs/weaves/braids etc and I'm so thankful God saved me from that bondage. I really believe that if all bw wore our natural hair, no matter the texture, 1. other groups wouldn't have much to say about our hair because of how many of us would finally look like our true selves (they would really be able to see their own hate for what it truly is) & 2. the moment bw stop raising up the wigs wave, other groups won't put themselves on a pedestal.

I've been using The Doux as well for a 1 product wash n go. I love it!! And my hair just puffs up over the week. We're at the same point in our journey girl, same cut and everything. Excited to see how our hair flourishes by just letting it be and not covering it up. I was thinking recently, we're the only people that constantly try to cover and/or alter our hair!! (As an entire people, as a unit)

Hilarious! Thank you for sharing Jenn! Does Wendy know about the scalp burns from relaxers and flat ironing, the cost of that biweekly hair appointments ( and that extra $100 every 6 weeks to touch up your relaxed hair) and the time lost waiting in the salon. I love my natural hair! I’m free and I am not dependent on anyone to make myself look “acceptable” based on someone else’s standard of beauty. It’s total ignorance. This video is perfect demonstration that natural hair doesn’t have to be difficult to be soft, healthy, and manageable.

How many times have I said I'm loving this vlogmas, Jenn? You're giving me so much to think about! I can't remember the last year I wore my own hair outside my home. It must be about 20 years! I was permed and only went natural about 4 years ago. I would perm and immediately braid and so never really built up the skills of taking care of my hair. I'm going to try to do better and put my crochet needle away. I'll try to get used to wearing my hair outside. I hope to one day get to the point where I don't even think about it. Thank you so much, young lady, for teaching middle-aged me new things. Please don't run and hide after the stress of vlogmas because we need you. Loving your content. All the best! ❤️🇬🇭🇬🇧

Halfway through watching this vid I realized I was smiling and I'm so grateful to you for allowing me (all of us) to share in your joy for your natural hair. Seeing you goof around and approach that 1hr 52 mins of hair care with such playfulness and without dread healed something in me, and I hope you know how much you are appreciated and how wonderful (and needed) your perspective and humor are. So thankful I found your channel, thanks for what you do!

Hi hi Jenn, I'm going to try the doux, I've seen such great results on you and other naturals that I have to give it a try! Can you also make a video about the language on a lot of black (natural and relaxed) hair care products? 'For dry, brittle, unmanageable, breaking, difficult, damaged (a.k.a. bad hair that has to be fixed and repaired constantly') I know there is a reason these companies put these texts on their products because a lot of people in our community view their hair in that way. I know I once did but videos like these have inspired me to choose a more positive and simple approach to my hair and it has done WONDERS for my hair (and wallet haha) I would like to hear your thoughts on this. Have a nice day!😊🌻

People with thick hair want my hair. We just have to love what we have and embrace it. All textures are beautiful when we trim, wash, condition and style with the correct products.

Tell Wendy her problem is with God. He blessed us with our hair. Take her dislikes about it and any other dislikes towards black people to Him and get all her answers. And nobody asked for her comment lol

All of this is easy to say when you have chin length or shorter hair. When your hair grows to be bra strap length and beyond we’ll see if you’re saying the same thing. I started getting silk presses on my natural hair regularly because no matter how cute my natural hair is it took up too much time in my life and I wanted to have a life outside of the shower and the hooded dryer

I live and still live in an predominant Caucasian town and have not had any problem going into an Caucasian salon and get my hair done. I don't get charged any more than my Caucasian friends, a majority of the hairdresser are more than happy to do my hair, because they are stepping out of their own comfort zone. And they will let me know, that they've never worked on a Black person's hair, but they are willing to try their best. They do and will ask questions, which I don't mind at all and I have to say, I have no complaints. So Wendy go kick rocks, on the freeway, at rush hour. Sorry Wendy, not sorry!

My natural hair is not soft and sometimes it is difficult, but I love it and would not change it for the world. A survey was done asking white women how they feel about our hair and the majority said they did not like it. I saw this on an episode of the real. White women naturally discriminates against black women hair regardless of what we say.

That was weird in itself. I wonder why a survey was even done asking white women what they think about black women’s hair. Like, WHO CARES!

I am in awe of your lack of shedding and breakage! Wendy could have kept her comment to herself. Why would you care if she thinks her hair is superior? 🤨 She saw someone loving her hair and tried to bring you down.

This all start with us. We are too afraid of our Afro ethnic hair. We have been taught that our hair in its natural state is not beautiful and then came the "natural hair community on social media telling us we need to wash & go with 90% of all influencers having curly or close to caucasian hair. I grew up washing my coily hair every Saturday and ot never took me 1 hour. Then comes youtube with a million steps and instructions and people taking hours talking about creating time to look after the hair growing out of your own scalp. We created this dam mess in the first place.

That's what I thought...there's a lot of bot comments. You gotta click on the picture to see how old the account is. If it less than 1 year, 100% it's a bot. If it's less than 2yrs...it's most likely a bot as well. A lot of bots were created during the beginning of the pandemic. I ignore all comments created from accounts 2 years and younger

I have coily hair, you can actually see the coils with no products. I will never talk bad about my hair not in my head or out loud. My hair is a part of me and its disgusting the way black women think of their own hair. They think of it as ugly and associate it with poverty. Thats why they expect celebrities to always “do their hair” or in movies where the poor person is always shown with their natural hair but once things change for them they begin to wear weaves. How then do you expect other groups of people to not have the same mentality.

Who is Wendy trying to fool? We all want what we don’t have. May I point out all the perms and teasing that goes on? Bone straight hair has its own set of problems, girl we are all on the same struggle bus trying to look good. Let’s call Wendy out for what she really is… a waste of time and energy.
