Rodney was the absolute best. Haven’t loved a character from the first second on screen so much in ages. Brilliantly written but also acted by the actor

I understand that a lot of people disliked *that* scene in the last episode, and I definitely also felt like it kinda broke up the pacing, flow, and tone of the series. That being said, I also want to say that the thing they wanted to do (again, whether you think it was good or not) was really well executed, and it revisited many themes and relationships in a very original way. They took a big risk, and while I think there's valid reasons to dislike it, I also think the makers should be applauded for such a risky way to revisit key aspects of the series. Also props to the actors who did it really well.

I thought it was amazing. It's a story, what do you expect?? This show is so we'll written 🤓 This and Messiah, and Ragnarok are my favorite Netflix originals. Also OA is right up there

Most people talk about the dance scene and how they love it or find it out of place, but my favourites are the 20-second silence and the silence at the last episode. So deep and emotional without saying a word.

The dance scene was really special and extremely unusual for television. That kind of staging is straight out of theater.

Just finished it tonight and LOVED it. I've never seen anything like the rooftop in ep8. Possible spoiler: I grieved when one of the "bad guys" died. Grieved again when another unlikeable character died. The acting is so stellar; their lives and loss of felt real.

Brilliant show. Great twisting drama, frequently hilarious dialogue, nice artistic cinematic touches and and ending that ties up most stories, leaves others open. Pretty much the best thing i have seen this year. Also great to see you back making reviews Ron, one of the best review shows on youtube. Hope lockdown is giving you a nice mix of family time and binging!

Some of the best acting I've seen in a while. And, let me admit, there's a scene (and I'm sure you know what I'm referring to), I found myself in tears. Just a beautiful series.

Agreed. THAT scene was a bit jarring, but I was also sobbing as each 'move' supported the characters' emotional arcs so well.

Just finished watching it and I am in full agreement with you. An intelligently emotional story for so many characters. I enjoyed Rodney, Mr Abbott and Sarah. I recognized so much being true of London and Soho, (I used to live near there) and then really enjoyed the deep look into the inner workings of the Yakuza and the Japanese culture. The traditional storytelling style is brilliant. Certainly the best story I've seen in ages, and would also be my nomination for the best thing I've seen in a year.

Just finished it. Blown away. I dont understand why there wasn't more buzz about this show. Any show that can pull of a contemporary dance scene out of nowhere and make it work. Wow. Just a masterpiece. Rodney won a BAFTA for BSA for his role. They all were incredible. Must watch and kudos for a great review. Nailed it

Loved the show! It was so gripping and lovely to watch. And each character had such complexity and intensity, it was beautiful seeing them progress and grow. My fav character would have to be Kenzo, he is a very complex character with a side to him that he does not show. I love the duality of his character from being a dutiful, honourable detective to being a ruthless person who will do anything, even the unthinkable for his family.

Great acting, so much so I really wanted to see Kelly MacDonald, Rodney and Taki the daughter get punched hard in the face multiple times. This series disappeared slowly up its own rectal passage, unfortunately. A triumph of style over substance, and the way self-centred degeneracy is normalised was quite depressing. Preposterous tosh that raised a lot of moral questions - perhaps that was intended?

@@BingeWatchers Season 1 hooked us with the shock of the new - this really was something different - so I agree the first episodes of season 2 lacked that impact - but I thought it got better as it went on and the second half of the season was just as good as the first in some ways even better because it opened up the characters more.

I think the japanese side of the story dragged on a lot, since the most interesting characters all wind up in london. I wish they would have shaved this, and left most of the japanese story in flashbacks. the really funny twist at the end of the japanese arc is great for a hot second but kind of goes nowhere. its also a little too complex to tie up all the characters in a logical way. like abbott just kind of trudged along by the end and felt like he lacked any motive or agency.

The show overall is good, almost great, could have been amazing but the way the writing choose to end varius plot lines keep it from becoming a hidden gem in Netflix. Definitely appreciate and applaud the creative turns and risk the directors took. Wish I could see that kind of bold creativity more often in nowadays series but yeah, sadly the writing was sloppy on key moments of thr resolution of the core arguments made by the story. Still recomend the watch.

It doesn't help that I'm allergic to interpretive dance, but that dance scene really left a bad taste in my mouth. It's really confusing me why some people are saying ''oh, I usually think that interpretive dance is pretentious, but this one hit me profoundly and made me cry''. I honestly don't get what's soo special and not pretentious about it. I already picked up that the relationships in the series were turbulent to say the least through the decent writing. So why do I need an emotionally manipulative interpretive dance scene to spoon-feed to me what I already know? If there was a way to make interpretive dance not pretentious, this is definitely not one of those instances. Other than that, the show was pretty solid and really picked up steam for me from the 4th episode onwards.
