Whilst this is an excellent video, that's not the biggest surprise of giri/haji That was Roy
I loved the show. The characters buildup, storytelling and overall emotional punches were remarkable. However, this dance scene was overwhelming poignant and beautiful, reminding us the complex string of feelings we carry inside us. Your analysis is really, really good.
So on point. You helped me make better sense of the show in one dance sequence, breaking it down piece by piece.
Man. I really hope there isn't another season coming. The story is perfect as it is.
just finished it. Wonderful show
Absolutely fantastic show we’ve seen in a long time, simply brilliant! The actors were just phenomenal & I loved them all, particularly Rodney & Kenzo & Kelly Macdonald was superb. The dance sequence near the end was extraordinary! Love love love it & want another series PLEASE!
Wow, I'm blown away by your break down of the dance sequence.
You definitely did a good job delineating the dance scene - thank you!
great review;) I finished watching this and needed to hear other viewers thoughts, this was spot on! The ended took me on a roller coaster of unexpected emotions, with the dance scene being its peek - it was satisfying to watch the dance scene knowing the meaning behind every movement between character.
One thing I will give them for the dance scene, it was very easy to understand and it made sense.
Excellent analysis. You explained the dance scene very very well Nice job~
Excellently put, thanks for the video! This scene really caught me off guard and was fantastic
Excellent work!
Very good analysis of the dance scene.
Thanks for your analysis of the excellent rooftop dance scene; if any series is able to pull something like that off, it was this one.
Goede analyse en mooi in elkaar gezet filmpje. Ik heb ook erg genoten van de serie.
Just finished Bloodhounds, and while its tone was quite different from Giri/Haji, it is also very similar; in that it depicts the complicated web of relationships and loyalties laid within a criminal underworld. The ending scene of G/H was constantly on my mind as I worked my way through Bloodhounds, so I really enjoyed revisiting it. Thank you!
Thanx for the analysis I just finished the serie in ecstasy, what a masterpiece! And no second season is coming but this dancing scene has already a place in drama history.
Thank you, I wanted some clarification on what was happening in the dance scene. I was aware that a more traditional Japanese storytelling method was at work within the series, but I was a little lost as to the meaning of the end bit. You explained it well. :}

yes, it seemed clear enough but wanted to check for what I may have missed. I still wonder if Japanese audiences have significant differences, see other things, in the story but I'm starting to suspect not.
Grandma, after her husband dies, is the best! Her lines to confront the entitlements of her daughters-in-law were A+, to stand up for themselves and together against the patriarchy, but leave off the needing to be liked and 'peace through lack of opinion'. Grandma: "From an older woman to a younger one, you'll never find peace. Never. It doesn't exist." "From the moment I laid eyes on you... you believed that the world has been letting you down since you were born." Where was grandma during the dance?
I subscribed, I appreciate your effort and hope to see more, especially Japanese shows and what we westerners might be missing in them.
The Eminem editing omg 😂
awesome
Joe Barton is doing Gotham PD connected to the Batman movie !
This series is so weird. I loved it, and watched it within a few days. All of this despite feeling that the characters were strange, many of their decisions didn't really make any sense to me, and that many times Kenzo's journey would have finished within the first 3 episodes if it weren't for his plot armor. The character stories seemed a bit incomplete. Rodney was such a good character, but he got such an underwhelming ending, not even being reunited with a mother who can guide him, but rather a mom that clearly is the responsible for his deepest flaws. Amazing story. Shit characters that I still fell in love with somehow. I mean, Kenzo is the most bland character I've seen, but still I wanted him to live a happy life instead of his brother. Shit ending that I enjoyed nonetheless.
can someone explain the ending? from my understanding the 2 yakuza clans are finished, kenzo is going to jail in London, but for what? and yuto meets Eiko in some European country, is this real?
I missed this detail, who was his friend Sora? 7:23

Not sure how helpful this is now. But he's Yuto's accomplice at the bookmakers. He gets shot, and Yuto shoots the guy who killed him. Kenzo goes over to check if Sora's killer is dead, and finishes him off
I just finished the show, I loved it up until the ending. Having everything open ended is just lazy at this point. I don’t care if it was for symbolism or something, just give me an ending where I’m not left angry
