I was around back then and yes, the future has turned out to be quite disappointing. Nothing like we expected. I remember exactly where I was the first time I heard this song--it gave me shivers and it still does.

I could listen to this 20 years from now and it would still sound ahead of its time

I'm 60 and have been dancing to Giorgio Moroder's timeless EDM for 45 years. It's been the backbone of the soundtrack of my life and the DNA source of all dance music since the 1970s. I hope to leave this planet with Patrick Cowley's remix of Giorgio Moroder and Donna Summer's masterpiece "I Feel Love" carrying me into the cosmos.

This still sounds like the future

All this becomes even more incredible if we think of Moroder's country of origin. It was born in Ortisei, a small village in Val Gardena, in the Italian Dolomites. In the 50s it made around 2500 inhabitants. There was still no mass tourism that would invade these places in the years to come. There was no television, no internet, no cell phones and certainly the towns were more isolated than now. To have the vision that Giorgio Moroder had and the strength to put it into practice starting from Ortisei you have to be an extremely badass. No offense to Ortisei but it is not New York or Milan, Berlin or London and doing what Moroder did would have been difficult even if he was born in this city.

almost 50 years ago and still the sound of the future

44 years later and here I am still listening to the moustache man. I still got the same disco move just like back then. Disco is immortal indeed.

The year of Saturday Night Fever. Yet this was so much more advanced. Let’s not forget that this music was created to be played in dance clubs with that incredible sound technology to create a feeling of being on top of the world. By the way Giorgio dressed in the “right” interpretation of 70s style - there was a right and wrong way to do it.

Go back ten years, and the typical disco wouldn't have the quality of sound reproduction, especially in the bass, for this to even work. Definitely some chicken and egg going on.

@@yurim8212 У друга был как раз "Маяк-203", самый популярный ( стоил где-то в районе 150 рублей), но писал не хуже 1-го класса,а я со временем прикупил " Астра-111-С"( в 1991 году он стоил 550 рублей), до сих пор стоит,пассики всё некогда поменять.

I was 19 and danced to this and other amazing tracks at the Embassy Club in London where the extended video promo for “Mighty Real” (Sylvester) was filmed. There's a lil hint in the intro but up till 1:45 it's electronic disco with synth strings in a conventional song format, then Giorgio goes, 'Oh by the way this is techno, your kids are going to love it.'

Depends on what music genres you are exposed to, I've only been revisiting disco/early electronic recently.

Giorgio had a Futuristic Sound , the Match with Donna Summer was a Perfect Blend

"From Here To Eternity" - I can hear everything - the step-rhythm, the Vocoder sound that led to the 1980s "Centaur" voice, the low-pass and high-pass filtering, arpeggiations, voltage control oscillators, and the "space-disco" thing - no wonder Giorgio Moroder made a great contribution to EDM history!!!!

There were a few other tracks around at the time or just before that made a contribution too, such as Popcorn (the backing not the annoying melody) , Magic Fly, etc. Moroder might claim to be the first to put it all together in a compelling and sophisticated package, though, and did so with a lot of style.

"I Feel Love" is a fantastic song, but you can see that it's not for dancing. I think it' a song to feel, to make a mind trip.

This was originally written produced & released by Giorgio in 1971 it barely made the charts in US didn’t at all in the U.K., but a Chickory Tip here hastily made a cover version & released in the U.K. at the same time as Giorgio’s so it probably stole his thunder!!
