The Gilbern Invader MK4 was commissioned in 1973 by Gilbern to produce a long wheel base version of the MK3 Invader.
The theory was that a true four-seater version with more leg room and boot space, would be more attractive than the rather cramped MK3, to the "business man" looking for a larger express sports car.
Unfortunately, the factory fell into financial trouble and work on the prototype was halted and never finished.
The unfinished mock-up of the MK4 prototype was displayed for publicity shots in the 1970's but was in a white undercoat, without internal parts, flooring or glass.
As a member of the Gilbern Owners Club. I purchased the MK4 Prototype in 2005 and completed the build for my daughter’s wedding in 2012.
It was unveiled at the Gilbern owners club, national day, at St Fagans Castle later that year.
The invader MK4 is now badged as "Prince" as this was one of the names popular for the Gilbern Relaunch after the financial troubles of 1973-74. This never happened and Gilbern went into receivership.

I saw this Mk IV in St Fagans at the Gilbern Owners National day, I think it had a ' Prince ' badge . Wasn't it a one off stretched model to show to the police , to put offenders in the rear seats, but not certain. I think I have a Polaroid of it somewhere from ' 70's , have to find it I believe it was possibly white before.
Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they even want to slow down all the gas pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. " Bundesabgasbespaßungsverbotsverordnung" in German. :-(((((
