Gigabyte GTX 1060 UNBOXING & TEARDOWN
Gigabyte GTX 1060 Windforce 3G GPU unboxing and teardown. Cooling system of the gpu is pretty good @2025mhz cpu clock you get around 68celcius wıth %76 fan speed. Its good at 1080p gaming wıth High graphics settings and its good looking gpu in your system. Gigabyte include backplate to this gpu but backplate made of plastic. Its role ıs only for good looking, not for a heat transfering for make whole gpu more rigid. MSI and Asus has aluminium backplate for this gpu, thats makes -1 point for Gigabyte.

I got the 2 fan version of this and cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the backplate off. I removed all the screws and its still stuck on there. I want to take it off so I can laser etch a design onto it at work

2 screws are on the inside of the backplate you must take them out. flip gpu over once heatsink is removed you will see the 2 screws on the pcb - look at still pic at 3:33 one screw top left one top right next to psu connector
Pretty straight forward. I got one off eBay for pretty cheap to throw in to a WoW box for a friend and was thinking about repasting the TIM with some NT-H2 if only because these cards are getting old.
I've a question, on movie thermal paste have a let say one year, if now you are using this card did you change thermal paste or this is the same? If you change, paste what kind of paste you use- im wondering about TG Kryonaut...

for my personal GPUs, I always change thermal paste to liquid metal. Doesnt matter if card have warranty. if its hase nickel or copper plate, i will change because its performs way better than other thermal pastes

The backplate is also a protection to the circuits if screws fall or anything metal.
I got this GPU, one of the fans (the one next to the 6pin) refuses wo work. Is there any way to not completely disassemble the card and just get the fan-part of? I don't want to rma because it probably takes a whole month and I'm also pretty scared of breaking my only GPU.

Ruki Reiketsu yes youbcant take one of the fans. Fans connected by splitter you can use only one fan but temps may increase

Cyptech I just want to check the connection. One of the fans won't spin (it's not blocked or something) and I want to see if everything is connected properly. At the moment only one of the fans will spin (reported as not spinning) and refuses to stop until I swith the pc of and restart again. Noise is annoying as hell.

It may reason between revisions. Gigabyte has some revision models that some revisions has less components to make production cheap
is it safe to use liquid metal with this videocard?

It's 1mm on VRMs but 1.5 or 2.0 on VRAMs I'm not sure, definitely not 1.0 mm
