Ive got a 50's standard in heritage cherry sunburst and absolutely in love with it. Apparently the missus knew I was going to be walking out of the shop with it as soon as I played the first string. lol. I only went in for a nose as I didn't realise the shop sold new Gibsons lol. I didn't even try the 60's standard even though I had the chance to. I just instantly fell in love with the 50's.

So years ago I bought 2004 a 50's Standard. Then I bought a Gold Top 50's made mid December 2019. Well the Gold Top neck is a big. So now I realize the 2004 Standard with no weight relief is a 60'S. Different but..... both are terrific.( I do prefer the 60's slimmer neck because of all my Strats are not as thick.) nice video.

Great, I have the 50s. I always think a fairer comparison between lower and higher gain pickups is to do what you did but also do a comparison where you up the the gain on the amp for the lower output pups so they are both pushing the amp at much the same level.

I know it's a year late, but it's more than the neck.. You got different pickups, different wiring. Pickups are easy to swap, but changing the wiring requires you to unbend some legs on the pots (which is something I wouldn't want to deal with) Then of course if you care about looks, you got different grade tops (although it can vary quite a bit, AA maple top 60s sometimes seem to get AAA+) and colours

Both sound great and your playing is awesome! I know that you stated that Rock is what you do but I would be able to hear more difference between the two guitars with a clean setting. Most of what I hear are your effects in this video. No offense, just sharing my feelings. I’m going to go play both of these and compare them on Saturday of this week and will probably bring one of them home! They’re both good color and fair flame. It’s gonna come down to the necks and pickups for me. Of course pickups can be changed but necks can’t! Thank you for your hard work!!!

Great video! I currently own a Gibson Les Paul Studio 2020 in Tangerine burst. I absolutely love it! But, I am now ready to invest in a standard. Both of these guitars right here sound equally awesome to me. The 60’s is a bit brighter while the 50’s is warmer and fuller in tonality. I personally prefer to have a slimmer taper on the neck, and the Grover machine heads. I would also like to have a standard in the heritage cherry sunburst color as well. I wish the necks were interchangeable. This is quite challenging. Do you know if it would be difficult to swap out the vintage deluxe tuners for the Grover’s on the 50’s model? I wouldn’t want to alter the hole size or leave any exposed holes neither. Gibson guitars are works of art that can depreciate in value if damaged, and I really just don’t want to tamper too much with them.

The mids of the 50’s are way more warm and sustain longer on your pinched harmonics, but the 60’s sounds brighter and more open. However it seemed to not sustain as long on your pinched harmonics. Could’ve been the way you played each guitar differently, but I like the 60s neck with the 50’s pickups 😂 looks like I may have to swap mine idk they both sound sick af tbh

@@urgidover Now I haven't tried either but from my research people describe it a quite noticeable but not huge either, meaning more 59 LP style not the early 50's baseball bat neck. But I definitely need to try both in a store. I was gonna get the 60's BB but I've fallen in love with the Heritage Cherry 50's and the the sound seems to a touch warmer too (thicker neck may give more sustain). @@urgidoverAlso one more thing. I have a very beautiful early 2000's Korean made Epiphone 1958 Korina Flying V and it has a very fat neck. I hope my local music store has the new Les Pauls and I'll try them but if the neck is the same as the Flying V that is very comfortable. Yes a lot more chunky than my SG or moden Flying V and even an LTD Les Paul I have but I like that a lot. I do enjoy both modern and old necks. It's still very slim compared to an acoustic guitar. So I think if you're fine with an acoustic it should be no problem. But yeah I'll give an update if I can find the 50's and 60's Paul and give em a try.

It's hard to say for sure, but I noticed that you were more inspired to hold notes longer on the 50's. @@wiseguy9202 So you're happy? I've been eyeing that exact model (BB) and I think I'm gonna start saving. I should be able to do it in 3-4 months so I still got some time to decide. But I want a really good LP, all my other guitars are Epis and LTD's or Squire's and I want the real deal. Plus I should be able to afford it now. I remember the beautiful feeling I got from trying the more pricey LP's in the store years ago.

@@wiseguy9202 That's good to hear. I'm really starting to fall in love with the 50's Heritage Cherry. I'd order it online too but the store has awesome reviews on them arriving tuned and intonated perfectly and they accept returns. Gonna give it a try. But I have to try that fat 50's neck in a store. My hands keep cramping up on the skinny SG/Tele/Ibanez necks I've been playing so I think I'll like it. Pretty dickish to go try out 2k guitars in the store and order online but oh well, I'm not made of money. :)

The 60s is a bit hotter so it is louder and distorts earlier. The 50s is a purist model for those that want to get that 59 sound. The 60s is still less hot than a classic with 57s as an fyi.
