Giants of the Savannah

Ойын-сауық

In “Giants of the Savannah,” A WILD Connection host James Currie joins researcher Erin Earl, conservationist Leroy Ignacio and vaquero Richard Peter, to discover never-before-seen behaviors of giant anteaters in Guyana. Along the way, we learn of the deep cultural ties between giant anteaters and the indigenous populations of the Rupununi and how new conservation strategies empower local communities to protect the land they cherish.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful video! I'm a zookeeper from Taiwan; we currently have one female giant anteater at the zoo; I know some may consider this far from 'conservation of the species;' however, this video/programme inspired me and helped me to understand more of the giant anteater, and want to help facilitate the welfare/enrichment issue for it, as well as engage the in-situ conservation story with our visitors/general public through various educational events!!

Guyana has interesting places to visit such as the capital, Georgetown, the Kaieteur waterfall, Port Kaituma (near Jonestown, where the biggest suicide occurred in 1978), Paruima village (the only Amerindian community Arecuna) and the Amerindian communities of Phillipai and Amokokupai (in the vicinity of Mount Roraima).
