Great video. I’m a cycling enthusiast and do not race. I’ve been riding a 2017 Defy the last few years and now I’m debating on making the jump to a 2021 TCR after improving my fitness the last couple of years. I think this video has done a great job at describing how the TCR could indeed fit my needs. Thank you!

Thanks for that last explanation . Watched all of your videos and by far best explanation about TCR and Defy.

I have owned one Propel, 2 Defys, and 9 TCRs. Clearly the best horse in the stable is the TCR.

I picked up a Propel over here in Qatar because the whole country is as flat as a pancake. They just opened the world’s longest closed cycle course here at 60 km round trip and there’s only about 1 foot of the elevation change for each km. It is a very fast bike, though I wouldn’t want it to be my only bike.

Great vid. New subscriber! I'm new to cycling and trying to find my feet.. but looking for my first road bike for a middle distance triathlon - so 90km. Thinking about getting the TCR Advanced 2 and getting some clip-on aero bars. I'm just worried that the TCR will be too aggresive posture and maybe I'd be better off with a Defy or Trek Emonda. What do you think?

Great video. I'm in between a TCR and a Propel so this was really helpful. Thanks! Must say that the Propel does look much better but totally get the Power meter. I wonder if the Propel 2021 will come with a power meter.

I’ve ridden a tcr for two years and race a lot it’s great for endurance but also racing I’m moving to a prop this year though as I believe it lacks some of the stiffness for an out and out race bike but is all round an excellent bike

Perhaps not mentioned is the defy is more versatile for everyday cycling such as er dare I say full mudguards - here in the cold damp UK you need em ☔😀

I have a Revolt Advanced 3 2022, and I am wondering if the Defy woudln't overlap a bit too much with it, because the frame looks a bit in the same style. I have a Giant Fastroad SLR2 2018 also as a road bike to do sport and commute, and was thinking getting someday a "real" road bike, and it is between TCR and Defy. I am almost sure I will never do 100km trips, I am thinking more like 40 to 60, and like 2 or 3 hours. So maybe I would enjoy more the TCR.

For defy, how do you adjust the stem length and angle? It seems fixed compared to normal stem which you can easily swap away.

You have to buy a new one underneath the box is like a normal stem but would recommend a professional mechanic change it because of cables

Very good review, ive been contemplating between the TCR and the Propel. The TCR just makes alot more sense. How does the Giant power meter performs tho? Thanks dude and nice haircut btw haha

Since you ask this question, I think you have spare money to consider/compare between different brand of power meter. The giant power meter is good value for money. It works great at its price range and it is good enough for ordinary cyclist. Between Propel and TCR, my suggestion is choose the one that you think looks better.

Great video. I don't understand the direct benefit of dual power meters. Almost everyone is within 49%-51% regarding their left vs right legs output on the pedals anyway, So why isn't a single sided PM enough? Even the expensive dual sided kits are not 100% accurate so if you're getting picky that 1.5% is not great either way imho.

  • @Dee-Ell

No thankyou Where did you get that 49%-51% number? Sources please. I call this BS. That’s way too “symmetrical” power output. You’re a superbly well-trained athlete if your legs are that close in sustained power output. Watch this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/f6WAqtewqKWbXcY.html 45-55 is more realistic. In this article, it says highly trained cyclists have power asymmetry of 13-17%! www.cyclingweekly.com/fitness/training/power-symmetry-128109

So b/w the 2021 defy advanced 2 and the tcr advanced 2 disc pro compact, let’s say i put the same tires and size that are on the tcr , on to the defy. besides the geometry, are these the same bike, performance and weight wise, as they have identical “advanced grade composite frames,” wheels, hydraulic brakes and groupsets? w a slight advantage to the defy bc of the d-fuse technology? Pls help me as I’m debating b/w the 2. .
