@@Blazcowitz1943 He knew that that thing would kill them all. So he wanted to play the hero by getting swallpwed with a shit ton of primed grenades. My favourite part is that self sacrifice was rewarded with a 1000IQ tail slap into the side of a mountain.

You gotta admit, this scene was perfectly done, the whole giant spider that has long sharp legs that look just like bamboo for camouflage is a very creative idea, it fits really well with the island feeling

Father Gabriel Stokes and the soldier who got grabbed didn’t just randomly struggle, he actually pulled out his knife and started cutting away at the tendrils. But the other soldiers didn’t use their knives to cut the legs they used machetes, which makes sense, they’re used to jungle warfare which means using machetes to clear away paths and brush.

One detail that I just loved about this movie is that this version of Skull Island is so dangerous that the natives and the vast majority of animals have developed their own camouflage methods to survive. The long-legged spider blends in with the bamboo forest; the Skeer Buffaloes disguises themselve as sandbars in bodies of water; the sawbirds as trees foliage; the stick insects like random logs; and the natives blend in with walls and tree trunks through body paintings.

Dont forget the giant ass ants that apparently mimic the sounds of defenseless birds

The idea of walking through a forest of bamboo and then you look up to see a giant spider directly above you, making you realize that some of the bamboo isn’t actually bamboo and is part of something truly terrifying is, in my opinion, one of the scariest things I have ever witnessed in a movie.

Literally nothing in the island could be trusted - you sit on a log and it’s a giant cricket, you rest on a bamboo tree and it’s a spider.. you think something is a bird and it’s actually an ant mimicking a Bird… hope they do something else with Skull Island

This is probably one of the most creative giant spider scenes I've seen in a movie.

Something I like about this scene; none of the soldiers are idiots. They're caught unawares, but they quickly respond and adjust as circumstances change. Not everyone makes it, but nobody dies due to stupidity.

1:37 people need to acknowledge that guy more. He almost lost his balls, but still manage to cut its leg.

I love how Cole yells out "cut the legs!" He wasn't letting Mills go out like that!!!

This scene is full of great elements that were done well, but the one thing that always stood out to me was the effectiveness of the bullets. Those guns are high calibre and could definitely penetrate the skin of that creature but most movies would have had the bullets bounce off it. It makes the weapons actually mean something when they are the reason they are alive.

I would rather be in this situation than the 2005 King Kong bug scene!

I kinda wish the Bamboo Spider got more screen time, the way it hides itself to ambush prey by hiding within bamboo and using tentacles form it’s jaws makes sense form a evolutionary stand point which makes the spider even cooler and scarier, like this is such a smart and cool way of ambush. Glad we got to see more of them in the Birth Of Kong comic at least

The middle of the spider have the little goo tentacles to protect itself from anything directly below it. Of every death in skull island this is probably the worst way to go

It's legs are hollow too. They do this : they impale something, inject the venom, the venom turns everything inside into juice and the spider takes it back in through the legs. Something certain antlion species do today

haha there is another clip here on youtube from the 2014 Godzilla movie where Bryan Cranston's character has to lock his own wife behind a security door and watch her die while she's looking at him through the glass... and in that video, when you turn on subtitles, it says the exact same thing in that moment .... *applause* I think KZread has a pretty effed up type of humour ...

This scene actually scared the hell out of me when I first saw it, it's a really nicely done fighting and attack scene. That giant spider is horrifying

Am I the only one intrigued and awed by the cleverness of this creature design? Sure, it’s just a giant spider, but the way it’s legs have adapted to look exactly like bamboo is such a cool design choice and concept. And believable too, if you take out the giant part

Cole deserved better. The dude really kept his head and was quick to act to help his friends. He's exactly the soldier you want on your side
