* GIANT RC BIPLANE * Pitts Python (85%) * HD *
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Monster Pitts Python (85%) flown at Wings & Wheels 2013. Engine loses power and ends the routine early but brought down safely with limited power. This model is the largest radio controlled aircraft in the UK, maybe in Europe, weighing in at 138 Kg, just under the maximum limit as defined by the CAA of 150Kg. The Pitts is scratch built, that means plans, design, construction and materials are all created by the builder to emulate the full size aircraft and it took Greg 5 years to complete this 7/8th scale biplane. The engine is manufactured by Hirth and is usually mounted in man carrying micro light aircraft. 650 cc flat twin with a 63 inch 3 blade propellor.

YOU DESERVE THE GOLD MEDAL 🥇 FOR MODELERING AND PERFORMANCE, WONDERFUL, GREAT 👍 JOB!!!
Beautiful BIPE . VERY NICE JOB . My compliments to the builder
Once you start building R/C planes that big then you're better off building it full scale, getting your pilots licence and flying the thing from inside it

Wow. Haha, if the owner has small boys, I'd be counting them before this thing took off...
You can fit a short person in their with the remote control. Viola you got yourself an airplane.

I've never heard of a "Python" in the Pitts family but, this is one Fine aircraft. A great job piloting. Very realistic!
That is really nice, engine sounds too high pitched but it works nice. Good job 👍👍
LOL, camera person loses sight of one of the biggest model airplanes in the world!!
The guy has a passion for building and RC, that's why he did it. Building a large RC model is a lot less complex than building something that carries a pilot. As for cost, buying a full size Pitts would probably 20+ times more than the cost of this RC model.

There are smaller _real_ planes than this... like the SD1 Minisport, or the CriCri. There are even some smaller _real_ jets, like the Bede BD2. This thing is just overkill. If I were to spend this much money building a plane of this size, I'd expect it to be literally pilotable. Some people have too much money.
@DFX2KX

except that in a real aircraft, you often need a pilot's license (the US is unique with it's ultraight category, most other ultralight categories around the world still need licenses), which makes this still more affordable. Also, if it DOES crash, you don't go down with it.
Nice RC. About the size of a baby lakes with 65hp. Lot of work for something you don't get to fly from the cockpit.
What a huge flying toy, great job guys love thiis.

Scratch built on a budget over a long period...so yes, fairly impressive. Some think it's not great because of the relatively low power mico-light engine that he used but it flies scale well enough. No reason why it should have to 3D. Quite an achievement I think.
Great looking plane, and flying.
I'm glad to see it's an actual "giant" RC plane. Usually the poster does tricks with perspectives.

only 15% more needed!! That was amazing
Sounds like a big 2stroke scooter. Great plane.
Beautiful!! Common beginner mistakes - make it small, so it's cheap, and make a simple design, so it's easy to build. You've just built something almost impossible to fly. The right way, start with a design that works, either another model or a real aircraft. Don't make it ultra simple and shoddy, build it like you were going to ride in it. And build it big enough that you nearly could ride in it. Which is easier to balance on you hand, a broomstick, or a walking stick, or 30cm ruler? How about a toothpick or a match? This is not a beginner project, it's an expert toy, but I'll bet you, it'd be easy to fly and heaps of fun.
Amazing
Great job on the Pitts. Guess we're lucky these guys weren't big fans of the 747.

nice pitts, love that plane since I started with RC airplans. can you render the movie with fixing framerate again and share, please?
ditch the radio and get in the sum-bitch and fly it! damn!
It’s a MODEL aircraft Bob.
Basically the same size as the Baby Great Lakes (NON-R/C 13' length, 16' wingspan) my ol' man and I built in the garage in the early '70s, in barely over a year, when my father was head of U.S. Army helicopter gunnery instruction... definitely a full-time job (the gunnery instruction AND the aircraft construction; in fact my father ended up in the hospital for an overnight(?) stay due to exhaustion). Built from prints only, no kit... just raw materials. 4130 tubing, Sitka spruce, Dacron... it seemed like each wing rib was made of 50 pieces of wood, counting the gussets : ) I still have a pic of us running a wingless engine test in the front yard (neighbors thought we were CRAZY!), and it looks EXACTLY the same scale as this R/C. Yep, when you build an R/C this big, I have to ask: "Whatsamatta you? Skeered of heights?" : ) kzread.info/dash/bejne/pamu0tWqnJPYdbw.html
awesome…
Very nice - well done. But why is bigger always better?
Mega geil diese grosse , und noch schwer zu steuern, der Seitenwand muss berechnet werden. Aber sonst ein tolles Teil. Gruß Dxxdet0.
very good! big power! wht's the power of engine? for which factory?
With that big of scale, that sucker needs a radial! Not 2-stroke noise! Valach makes a perfect one for this bird.
You're right, it's sounds like a flying Trabant 601. However, it looks good in the air, would certainly be amazing with a radial model engine in front. But then the cost would probably double.

What the remote aircraft can do and its performance are probably much more then if it was maned. There is more then legal limitations once you have a person in side. It weighs less and can pull more Gs if its unmanned.

So much effort for such an uninteresting plane!
I like how the announcer calls a perfect three point landing before the three point landing which never happened! Perhaps he misspoke and meant a three bounce landing.
I would have just sold some more lemonade or cookies and add on the extra 15% for full scale.....just saying, Nice plane though.
Put some clear plexi with a dummy pilot inside.(to bad about the 2 cycle snowmobile sound).
I honestly couldn’t tell it was not a real plane!
Really should be a ride on
How hard was the 15%?
Agreed re the commentator - tiresome!! Still a lovely plane build even if over-the-top for scale. Would sound great with a real radial engine. Major logistics getting it to the airfield!!
Cool build!! Looked a bit under powered.
That plane look like you could fit in
Is it just me or is this model way under powered sounds like a ryobi weedeater needs a moki radial

650cc 65hp is plenty it sounds that way because it's a 2cycle, there are ultralight planes people fly in with less hp,notice the short take off and loops,if it's under powered it couldn't do that

Would it take the weight of an average person, and then fly. Why is the cockpit blocked off.
i wonder what a setup like that costs
Engine sound shold be trimmed to sound like original engine. It is easy task with right exhaust pipe system.
I mean zoom out at 3:17
There's smaller planes flown by pilots sitting inside of them, Cri Cri and SD1-Minisport for example.
Impressive Pitts, though a bit underpowered. And I much prefer a clear canopy and pilot figure.
That thing is as big as the original Pitts.
Rotax engine?

+Peter Bruce Hi Peter. Good to hear from you. Pilot and owner is Greg Hayfield. He is on Facebook. You could contact him and ask him if he'd like to participate but I'll be honest I think the model could be too big for Bartons. It needs a lot of space to fly safely due to it's size. But that's just my personal opinion. Drop him a line and see what he thinks. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
Does the FFA have size restrictions on RC types?
@EssentialRC

John M. McDonald FAA in the UK? Yes. The Large Model Association runs a scheme to review and approve models that are over 20kg.
yes your right i can not fly a rc aircraft .as your not in it at 500 ft you can not see what it is doing .see the speed see the roll . see the pich .but if your in an aircraft you can see all of this and it is ease . but as for rc aircraft .well they are very hard to fly i think if i had one i think i will have PFV on her by the way what cc is the engine
Love that baby
wow this plane is the same size as the baby super great lakes homebuilt experimental biplane,
650cc motor? for a model airplane? Are you kidding me? Yes,you couls put a small person in it.
Honest question, please don't get mad: Can this hold a person?, at least in terms of weight?
@EssentialRC

BassForever44 Yes. Fairly sure I heard the engine was from a microlight.
Make it a bit bigger and you can fly your self in it >>>>
There are planes in the sky with the same engine and two real seats in it.
Wonder would it Carrie a person if they could fit

Essential RC maybe not technically RC since it was autonomous but there was this...www.hiller.org/condor.shtml which is an amazing thing especially considering when it flew. No sure if it's the biggest but with a wingspan greater than a 747 it is certainly on the large side. Less fun than this Pitts which is also amazing. Thanks for sharing the video.
