Giant Antique & Art Center Block Makes Vintage Shopping Fun!

An enormous, catacomb laden block at the edge of the Butchertown district has long been the home of Mellwood Antique Mall & Interiors! Joined to the city's burgeoning art center in one big art & design district, this place has long been known as a furnishings center...but not a place where I could shop for resale. Will today be different?
It sure is! This huge mall has benefitted from refugee dealers coming in from the nearby (and now defunct) Crazy Daisy mall, bringing a touch of modernism, a bevy of smalls and a general sense of reinvigoration to what was a stately but staid mall in the past. We find a lot to catch our eye right away, from Eva Zeisel Harlequin dinnerware and a Culver hot orange beverage set to a deep ruby castor set and sterling mint julep cups for your next Derby party!
I love showing off the great stuff in a well appointed shop like this, but as a reseller, I need to ferret out some deals as well! This humongous antique center has endless aisles of spaces where the dig is on, and we find Marwal busts, a Hubley cast iron cat doorstop, pretty 1930s pottery and some surprisingly underpriced porcelain that we know we can flip for a profit. We show how to save on the sales tax as we check out, making oiur first ever purchases here!
This mall has really changed for the better, and we only scratched the surface, so we'll be back to bargain hunt another day!

Thank you sir for continuing to satisfy and to IMPRESS us . We shouldn't put KZread resellers on a pedestal, and then be disappointed when we are gullible and foolish with our money. The education you bring to us is well worth your pricing. Please continue to be true to your audience for I for one will continue to admire your integrity.

😂George, I agree with you about backwards or upside tags on pieces in locked cases, which is quite off-putting. In my opinion, dealers lose more potential sales than they gain from this trick. Finally, on an unrelated topic, I purchased a Kmart uniform shirt from you a while back. Tomorrow, it's going to be the key piece for my Blue Light Special Halloween costume.

Now I can have riveting conversations with them. I’m editing to add… I really want a marble top table. It’s going to tough to find here with my price cap.e 22:35

27:56 The console/desk is nice, but I liked the chair. I grew up with the Victorian marble-top table and chairs etc in the house. All family pieces. I'm still using my grandparents Arts& Crafts living room set! We pulled out the dusty stuffing back in the early 90s, but the original leather is under the padding and upholstery. I prefer that couch to the one my mom bought at about the same time - 90s. George probably would too.(LOL)

Good evening, George! That castor set was fantastic! I've always wanted one, but nowhere to put one. I have one of those McCoy grape vases. I've been to New Orleans _many_ times, but I've never tried a mint julep. I'm loving the religious statuary! Some of the best artwork I've seen is in religious artwork. That side-by-side, with the cylinder desk, had me almost drooling 😂 I would've paid $48.00 for that Flow Blue cup and saucer. Those marble topped tables were phenomenal! We have a few Victorian marble topped tables, and they are really nice. That mall looked like a place you could spend a couple days shopping. Lots of nice items. Thanks for the tour!

Gotta disagree about the music box. If it is worth the money, it can be repaired. Either is is what people call "overwound" - which isn't overwound - you cannot overwind a mainspring. However the grease can get gummy and prevent the spring from releasing. There are videos on You Tube on how to fix that easily. Or the mainspring is broken - they can get brittle and shatter. That, too, is not a difficult repair - if the piece is worth it. Any clockmaker can replace a mainspring. Takes minutes.

I guess I am jaded, I know other people are more dexterous than I am, but I have had mixed success when I have tried to fix them myself. Your description of what happens is much clearer than saying "overwound", and you are right that for some people, this would be an easy fix!
