Giannis and the Bucks Are NBA Champions | The Bill Simmons Podcast

Спорт

The Ringer’s Bill Simmons is joined by Ryen Russillo to discuss the Milwaukee Bucks winning the 2021 NBA Finals thanks to a legendary 50-point performance from Giannis Antetokounmpo in Game 6. They list some of the all-time great Finals performances and rank where Giannis’s fits among them, and then explain why the Bucks' winning a title was an ideal outcome for the NBA.

@@chiecheung25 I'm sorry. 2 time champs aren't called chokes in my house. Especially when he beat both of those teams for his rings. In 67 wilt peaks as arguably the best player in the history of the sport and they send Boston home in 5. Same season they set a new record in wins and were the best offensive team to that point in history. Then his 2nd ring he's still one of the better 2 way forces in the league and they set the league record for wins AGAIN. One of the problems with this positionless Basketball is they are judging Giannis the same way they Judge KD..When in reality Giannis is a PF and KD is a SF...Traditionally a SF will have a different Skill set than a PF...But that doesn't mean the SF is better..Shaq was the most dominant..He never was the most skilled..And we never expected Shaq to have skills like a SF..Now Giannis is dominant and they are holding it against him that he doesn't have skills like a SF...When Giannis is this generation Shaq..

People don’t understand Giannis! You know how hard it is to win with one team and doing the right way and he’s finally did it and it was just a relief and unreal for him! I think, Giannis never thought that he was going to win with Milwaukee Bucks because it’s not super team and small market! But he did it and it was the emotion that has been built up for a very long time and it shows on his face and he was just happy and enjoyed the moment!

its unfair for people to say injuries effected the playoffs..the nets were unfair so expecting giannis with no super team to beat a super duper team is unfair..and even if trae young plays the hawks lose for sure...the clippers with kawhi may beat the bucks who knows but besides that its unfair to say giannis had an easy run...he got hurt and dominated the finals...his team still mostly sucks, we know this..thats why hes a top 27 player all time now cause that run is hard to pull off ala 2011 mavs...after khris and giannis its a bunch of randomness but hey thats old school ala the 2001 lakers..2 guys and a bunch of random...2006 wade shaq..2009 kobe gasol and random heroes from fisher to ariza to odom...2011 dirk terry and randomness...

They were just more iconic and memorable, not nearly as good. Look at what giannis did both defensively and offensively whilst shutting up his critics about FT and scoring half his teams points (50 out of 105) AI is my fav player but that game is the only finals game he won and the stepover is why we all remember it.

@@slavemonkey5063 I don't think LeBron's first run should necessarily be blamed on the front staff. They won 66 in 2009 and 61 in 2010. There was good reason in 2010 to believe that with some experience, they could make the jump. But then the team was terrible again against Boston and the NBA was forever changed.
