i got the honor of meeting a couple of fellow ecto-1 replica builders this weekend and documented their car, the ecto_tx. this car was a barn find parked since 1971 that this 21 year old and his uncle spent 1 year converting into an ecto 1 replica. they are doing it on a budget to appear like the version in Afterlife!

the only problem I can foresee with that change into an afterlife car is you have to change the rear passenger door to a suicide door its not a two-way letting loading hearse so you can't really put a jump seat on or as they called it a gunner seat

Well they do want to install one, but no immediate plans for it. And in afterlife the gunner seat cars werent suicide door 2way hearses, they were standard style doors that they flipped the hinges and handles front to back and reframed that entire section to hold the weight of a massive hydraulic arm. Thanks for watchin!
Needed some suspension work. And Shocks, brakes, brake pads, liner , transmission, rear end. Also new mufflers and a little wiring.

hey I got one question so I went to this place that had cars and I saw the ECTO 1 I was wondering if that was yours?
That door cannot come off a sedan. It cannot even come off another hearse. It had to come off a Miller Meteor. Meteor rear doors are shorter than Superior coach doors.

Why is there 2 zippers in the headliner, I think one was to access the wiring for a magnetic beacon? But what is the other zip for? Also it would be interesting to see the what the car looked like in it's OG white paint when it was still in service

Im not sure about the 2nd zipper, first time ive seen it too. And yeah, unfortunately the only pics they have are from in the barn when it was sold

@@DYFEA and unfortunately that is something you’d probably have to go through the hearse guys for. But I saw in another video that this car still has it’s VIN plate from MM and yours dose too, as you showed it in another video
