There's so much visual charm to the Master System port, I love it. The 2600 port was a tall order but I'm impressed they pulled it off to the degree they did.

@@rcslyman8929 SMS version just lacked the sampled speech, but I suppose it's a concession I can live without. :)
I've been blown away by the fact that nearly every single system from the early 80's was capable of playing voice samples. I knew that the NES and C64 could do it, but I never imagined that the Apple II, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad and Atari systems could! This has been a real eye-opener (and ear-opener!) for me. I also didn't expect the game to have a "finance simulation" element to it. I thought it would just be a straight-up action game split into stages where you go around the city and enter buildings, all while trapping ghosts. It seems weird that the NES versions have the shop part after the overhead driving part and that you have to _avoid_ the ghosts in the driving part instead of catching them like you do in the other versions.

The sad thing is that the Apple II, ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC and Atari 8-bit family was able to have voice clips but not the MSX or the NES! It shouldn’t be a surprise. The Atari 8 bit often had better versions of games than the C64. Go compare Elektra Glide on the Atari vs C64, or Rescue on Fractalus, or Pole Position, or Alternate Reality. The list goes on…
What I find funny is that even with the Apple ]['s primitive graphics abilities, that was the only platform where they got the look of the Proton Stream right (random and wild, not just wiggly). Cheers to Robert McNally, who programmed that version (also the one I grew up with, though I envied the far superior sound of the Commodore 64 version my friends had).
Nothing beats the Master System version. It has the best graphics, best gameplay, and the shooting gallery in the Zuul stairway is a wonderful addition.

NES and Master System is the versions I've played back then. Somehow I've managed to understand what to do in NES version, but stairway level was impossible for me and I didn't know what items I should had. With Master System version I actually never managed to get to the main building as I get game overs at random points. Good ole David Crane of Pitfall fame is your man to thank for this masterpiece that complimented the movie so faithfully! That plus the Nintendo version used the "stack for cash" score: the more ghosts you sucked up in a single trap, the more cash you brought in: 200 for the first, then doubled until the fourth and last was 1600. Bit like Pac Man taking out blue ghosts with the weird mouth zigzag.

Without a doubt the best music on the Master System! As a kid 25:43 would always make me think how cool it would be if an ambulance going down the street played this section! The game also looks great on it. The driving section by far looks the best and is the most fun of all versions I played. I wish more Master System games used the low end of the note it could produce. Most MS games blasted ear bleeds and I wonder if that wasn't part of the reason the USA didn't latch on to it like other countries. Which is funny that the NES version of this game (both) seem to rely on that nails on a chalk board sound!

The Atari 8 bit was far more capabilities than the C64. There’s plenty of games that are better due to the Atari having a faster CPU as well as four channels or sound compared to the C64s three. Not to mention the vibrant colour palette. Compare games such as Elektra Glide, Pole Position,, Alternate Reality, to name a few, and you’ll see which was the superior machine.
Apple II version was amazing!!! 👍👍👍👍
Can you do a Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari / River City Ransom comparison?
Esse jogo me fez lembrar do Atari e do TK90X que joguei muito. Obrigado ao canal.
It's a brilliant game in terms of the gameplay but I wish it had been done in a definitive version, like an arcade version or something. I grew up with the Spectrum version but I'd say the Master System seems to be the best in terms of visuals.
Spectrum is the one I grew up with. But I do like the C64 version also
Landmark licensed-property video game on Commodore 64 by Activision based on same property, the original version are from computers and one is Atari 2600. The theme are matched to pitch, but also looks like The News' I Want a new drug (aka reversed Ghostbusters theme by Ray Parked Jr) Nintendo FAMICOM/NES version of Ghostbusters is redundant on original version because inconsistency, but remastered with re-worked sprite already fixed (limited-time release) despite the production was ended in 2003 for FAMICOM and 1995 for NES (two of respective where don't have new games again but we have self-published releases with limited quantity due to the relaxation of the rules). Master System is basically remake version but retained theme, these graphics looks like early-90s MS-DOS games.
I'd say the Commodore 64 version is the definitive one. The synthesized speech sounds great for the time, the rendition of the theme song sounds the best, and the sound effects are good too.

THE AMSTRAD CPC VOICE
SMS is definitely the coolest
Interesting, I had no idea how many systems this was on. Bizarre the versions that don't show you the vacuum on the hood, you just have to guess at how it works. IMO the C64 and Atari 8 bit versions were the best ones. Most of the other ones were slow/flickery/choppy I'm surprised the SMS version is lacking the synthesized/sampled voice, I'm sure it could've managed it if the C64, Atari 8-Bit, Apple II etc could do it. The Atari 2600 surprisingly looks good considering its limitations, the gameplay is much smoother than some of the computer versions, they also managed to accomplish the ghost getting sucked up by the vacuum effect where a lot of the versions just had the ghost dissapear.

You should have also shown the Atari 8bit version with PAL timings. The music ran faster in this one and I think, despite being at the wrong speed, fits the mood of the game better.
amstrad cpc voice broke my ears
I feel like the NES version really is the worst, at least as far as making use of its system is concerned. The Atari 2600 version was crude compered to some of the computer versions, but for an Atari game it wasn't bad. The NES version came out 2 years after the C64 version, and compared to other NES games from around then it looks and sounds pitiful, let alone compared to the Master System port. The NES was capable of so much better. It somehow manages to look and sound uglier than the C64 version, too.
MSX is still my favorite
My favorite versions are C64, Atari 8-Bit, & Atari 2600.
In my opinion, the C64 version comes only second to the Sega Master System version. Nice. Although the Atari 8-Bit version is good as well. Even the Amstrad CPC and MSX surprised me. The PCjr Tandy 1000 was surprisingly interesting.

Best ghost busters game was on Sega Genesis back then but of all time it's ghostbusters the video game which had all the original actors who reprised their roles and closest thing to ghost busters 3 the movie we're going to get from original cast of Ghostbusters.
Oh dear is all I can say. One of my most favourite games EVER! and seeing the dire conversions on other machines made me realise I was spoilt as a kid. I had the C64 and I know there's a bit of a hoo-har with Spectrum owners but this just shows how poor the Spectrum version was, even the 128 version. Absolutely abysmal. The music was a massive improvement. Now the Master System was pretty funky. That seems to have had a lot of potential but still seemed lacking. As for the NES version - seems very good as well. I'm just not into consoles.

I first played on that atari 2600.yes it was very basic but still played well..then I got c64 improved graphics and sound. Played master system version at friends overall better graphics but my god what happened to the ghosts, look more like quaver crisps with arms lol Nes version looked very poor graphics wise

The C64 version has farty sounding music and a dull colour palette. No way is that better than the Atari version,
Apple II And ZX Spectrum 128k Intro Are Super Ear Blasting 💀
The ZX Spectrum version audio=Eww! 🤮 The ZX Spectrum 128 is better. Amstrad CPC version not outright bad.
