Credit where credits due. The mixing on this song is great. The staccato drum beats the the surf rock guitar are used very nicely. Reminds me of some of the stuff from the band The Atom Age

Always felt that this song is more broadly about how nostalgia warms the memory of something you cared about or really loved.

Absolution is easily Ghost's best and heaviest song, but nobody ever gives it the attention it deserves. If you see this comment, please consider this song if you wanna restore your faith in Ghost.

It’s a good song but it’s not their heaviest. Honestly Mummy Dust and Faith are heavier. Would say Faith is the heaviest

I remember being on a boat in the middle of my grandmother's lake at 3 in the morning; Full moon, clear sky, fog... and this song playing in the background. It's an image that always stuck in my mind because of how blissful it was. Either way its a good song, it's just not for everybody.

And the fact they threw in some surf rock just tells you how amazingly unpredictable Ghost are.
