Gosh, this was always the standout from Prequelle for me. This song, lyrically, to me (and from what I've read Tobias say about it) is similar tonally to Zombie by The Cranberries. About perspective, and reflecting on while we are all living comfortably others are suffering. It is a profound, albeit, uneasy thing to reflect upon, but this song is very powerful in my opinion. It may seem somewhat simple structurally, but lyrically it has a lot of emotional depth. One of my favorites for them, and especially on the album. This song was actually one of the most well recieved from the album by the fanbase and spurred the band to begin playing it live. A sleeper hit that I doubt Tobias expected to become so popular with the fans. Great song.

It was the song I noticed right away on the album. Rats was the exciting track bc of teasers we got but this song was the one that really got me excited bc I knew this album was going to really grow on me. And it did. It is a fantastic album. Best from the year in metal/rock in my opinion.

The guy sell his soul to satan to get life eternal. The wife dies in the black plague spread from the Rats. The last dance was Dance Macabre. The whole album needs to be listened to from start to finish to understand.

Great synopsis, my friend.

Me and my kids have always done concerts together. Been doing it since they were little. We went to see Ghost in concert had front row seats. They were great and if you ever see him in person he's such a clown, he loves joking with the audience. It was crazy because you're looking at him one way and he's like a stand up comedian. He was so nice he have my son a goodie bag with a poster, a glass candle and some other stuff. I can't wait to see them again. And the entire audience was having blast its like one big family having a party.

I'm pretty sure the "official" video for this song does not exist. As for the meaning, Tobias stated that it's applicable to modern world problems. Many people go about their easy lives, whilst war, famine, pestilence (the plague in this case since the whole album is about that), etc destroys much of the world...but death(personified as the singer) is inevitable and comes for us all.

I am not here to argue theology- i’m here for Ghost-but I always resented the frankly manipulative scare tactic of an idea that if you aren’t totally onboard with everything in scripture or an outspoken christian, you’re a sinner. I despise the idea that everyone is born evil, as well. It’s insulting to the potential of humanity, and basically means that people can’t be good without doing what “we” (we being the church or whoever influences your religious teaching) tells you to do. I firmly believe that if God is out there, he has nothing to do with the Bible, and he’d be disgusted with how cultish and manipulative it all is.

We aren't born Evil, we are born with original Sin (Immoral acts against divine law) Angels must obey God, they don't have free will. Adam and Eve ate the fruit and obtained free will. They didn't do anything evil but they sinned by betraying God's command, the first sin, the original sin. We are born with free will, but if we can prove throughout our life that we can obey God then he will let us into heaven as an angel, that's about it. Although I don't believe in it, I think a lot of people take it a bit out of context.

By Christian logic, babies born in regions where they are never exposed to Christianity, or where it has no large sway on things, are all going to be tortured in fire for all eternity through no fault of their own, simply because they didn't believe in a specific religion. By contrast, an unrepentant child molester needs only be a devout believer and all will be forgiven.

Adam and Eve used their free will to partake of the fruit despite the fact they were told not to and thus had their immortality revoked because a being with free will, the knowledge of good and evil, and immortality is too close to being gods themselves. That and them choosing to defy what they were told (which, if God is supposed to be omniscient, shouldn't he have already known that was going to happen and why did he put the tree there in the first place?) is what caused "the fall of man". Is that not what Genesis actually tells?

He never said we are born evil. He stated the concept we are born into sin. Which is true. Sin translates to immoral or unethical acts. Which outside from a biblical perspective is objectively true. Add them together and you have divine law which we are already at a deficit of. Think binary. Either a 1 or a 0. We are born a 0. Either you die a 0 or you die a 1. Pretty simple to understand.

Skimming through the comments, didn't see this correction so I'll pop it in, the "anubis" figure was a plague doctor. They wore tightly wrapped, heavy clothes and that bird shaped mask. The beak of the mask was stuffed with herbs to protect against the miasma (poisoned air from the sick) which was thought to be one of the ways sickness spread. Thanks for the videos you two! Ya'll do great work!

And miasma is a track on the album too obviously and it makes sense that when papa nihil comes up for the nice sax solo the fog comes up bc miasma is a vapor or smell in the dictionary.

This song is underrated, dark, haunting but beautiful, I actually cried the first time I heard it,God Bless Ghost. I have never said that about any satanic band Lol.

Great album! I got stuck on Faith while I was doing time but now I’m free and got the whole thing. First Ghost record ever but glad I got it! It really has a nice flow to it.

One of the most underrated songs on the record Tobias is just an absolute genius when it comes to writing catchy hooks that you want to sing to but still makes it heavy as well it has no lyrics but Miasma from the same record would be worth checking out

I used to be weirded out by the thought of my body rotting in a hole, but now I've embraced it. It's a part of nature and it's beautiful. From your earthly remains, new life can sprout, what's left of you providing nourishment for that new life. In that way, even though I don't really believe in an afterlife, I still kind of get one. Decay is an extant form of life. I want a green burial. No chemicals, minimal coffin or just a shroud if allowed, plant some native flora on top and call it done.

This is one of my top 5 favorite Ghost songs. But it is really hard to only have 5, there might be a total of 5 I don't like out of all of the albums. They are very underrated, and so very talented.

You should check out Belzebubs, "Blackened Call" and "Cathedral of Mourning". I highly, highly recommend viewing the official music videos due to the fact that they are like other fictional bands like Prozzak and Gorrilaz where they are depicted as comic book characters.

The album is about the plague. So that should be where you start. The costume is a plague doctor.

Based on the order of the songs on this album I always saw Pro Memoria and Witch Image story of a man who is constantly told by the devil that remember you'll die don't you forget that. So he sells his soul for immortality then meets somebody who he loves and is watching them grow older and dying so he tries to buy it back and is told "what is done can't be undone and what you have sold can't be unsold" and Life Eternal could be hundreds of years later and he is still saying that persons name and letting them know that he remembers them and he will do that forever and because he is immortal he has forever and he is asking if they can hear and see him so they know he remembers them. Maybe they are the only person he has ever loved in his lifetime.

Hmm... The discussion of the Devil and Death brings to my mind what is, in my opinion, _the_ best depiction of *Death* on any work of fiction (sorry, Neil Gaiman, though I adore his version) - the *_Supernatural_* episode #5.21, _Two Minutes to Midnight_ (yes, an *Iron Maiden* tribute), which was part of the "Apocalypse Arc" (arguably _the_ best arc in the show) that lasted the _entirety_ of *Seasons 3 to 5* (16 + 22 + 22 episodes!), from October 2007 to May 2010. The "Apocalypse Arc" also introduced the *Angels,* and boy, they were badass! Plus, in episode #5.10, _Abandon All Hope,_ it marked the debut of everyone's favourite demon, *Crowley,* a character so liked he ended up appearing in 70 episodes! Damn, this makes me watch those seasons all over again! Especially since the show was supposed to end there... instead of continuing 10 more seasons. Hey, S6 to S15 are _not_ bad seasons, just not on the same apocalyptic (pun intended) level as S3 to S5 - not including a couple of stinker filler episodes on those seasons :)

I think it's an interesting song, it's kind of an anti-suicide song, but it's for the POV of one of the last characters you'd expect-Death where he's kind of warning the listener not to and that he knows how they're feeling "you have never stood so close than you want to be, you have been waiting in the shallows between m and the deep blue sea" "you never WANT me to appear, you never want this to be over" "what you've done you cannot undo" "While you sleep in earthly delight, still your soul will suffer this plight" because I can imagine that death does in fact have its own design and by someone ending their life, it is not a natural order of things so even Death has to follow orders

I thought this song overall was about witch burnings and the wicked philiosophy behind it.
