If you like slick fighters thats cool but there's no need to hate on boxer punchers like Glolovkin there are many styles to boxing you know

I like any style when it's well executed and that's GGG's case, but I would add some defense to his mitt work. It may be a good idea.

Mr.X I agree with everything you said, except calling GGG a boxer-puncher. In boxing there are 4 general styles: brawlers, swarmer/inside-fighters, outside boxers ("slick fighters"), and boxer-punchers. Examples of boxer-punchers today are Roman Gonzalez, Mikey Garcia, Terence Crawford, Kell Brook, & Sergey Kovalev. If you look carefully at these fighters, you'll see that they have more classical control from the mid-range & long-range than GGG. They also work more behind jabs, spacing, parries, head movement, baits, feints, and counters. While GGG does have the ability to venture into the mid-range and use jabs - he mostly relies on weaving, slipping, and cutting the ring to expose his opponents (to also counter effectively). Thus, GGG is usually categorized as a crowder/inside fighter. Sanchez has stated that he's been showing GGG film of Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. (a famous all-time-great, inside-fighter). I think that GGG uses Mid-range setups against dangerous punchers (Stevens) and uses crowding/inside-fighting tactics against "slick fighters" and movers (Murray & Monroe Jr. as examples).

TainoMantis GGG is not an inside fighter. Sanchez may have showed him videos of Chavez and it's possible that he wants him to fight on the inside but that's not his style, he's pretty vulnerable doing so and he's not that effective. GGG is a pressure fighter but he always extends his arms to keep his opponents at the end of his punches. Distance and good positioning are the name of his game. By the way, Murray is definitely not a "slick fighter"... And his last fight wasn't one of his best performances. He was controlling the fight and hurting Monroe Jr by boxing the way he knows best. He didn't need to give him unnecessary chances and I'm pretty sure he knows that.

Uriel Zinn As of now, GGG is not a boxer-puncher. As I've said he doesn't use the full repertoire of techniques from the outside to classify him as such. I suggest you look at the Murray fight closely. If that isn't the characteristics of modern crowding & inside-fighting, then I don't know what is. He even broke Murray's movement down by working the body. I will admit that he is very good from mid-range and I said he uses the mid-range more against more powerful punchers. But at the same time, look at Roman Gonzalez, Terence Crawford, Kell Brook, and Sergey Kovalev. And then look at Golovkin. There is a difference. What makes you think GGG is vulnerable to the inside? I hope you're not regurgitating what you heard as false gossip. Max Kellerman said that Monroe Jr. may be more effective standing his ground and fighting on the inside than moving around the outside. Monroe Jr. is an outside boxer and resorted to using brawling tactics and inside-fighting in round 4. Brawling tactics is the kryptonite of the inside-fighter, just as outside "slick" defense is the kryptonite of the flat footed brawler. The styles are simply set up like that and have always been set up like that since the late 1800's.

It's obvious GGG doesn't want to REALLY fight an actual boxer with skills! He just wants to use their names for attention! Abel's ONLY training him for POWER! If he goes up against a top-level BOXER, he'll get CLOCKED when he throws those SLOW left-uppercuts & hooks! He's JUST slow enough to get caught with counters!

Andre Salazar; Willie Monroe, ggg's last opponent was a guy with a lot of skills, so was Martin Murray, and what happened to them? Yea that's rite stfu

  • @jaaayj5474

Does he hit harder than Hearns? Hagler? Mugabi? Duran? Benn? Julian Jackson? To be honest GGG wouldn't of beat any of them. No doubt he's looked impressive but I can't think of him fighting someone who is an elite fighter? Martin Murray and let's be honest Murray has about as much power as a stoned grandma GGG didn't look anything special he throws the most awkward weirdest over hand right that hits people ontop of the head, and Murray was certainly connecting with alot of combinations just a shame there weren't any power in those combos.

Mike Morgan Murray put up a very good account of himself against GGG but Murray lacks power, He throws good combinations which we're good point scorers but didn't have the power to cause GGG any true problems. I used to box yes.

  • @jaaayj5474

Mike Morgan Yes I agree your power can lesson if you move up from your natural weight, But then again the likes of Roberto Duran, Tommy Hearnes, Julian Jackson to name a few all maintained there punching power when moving up in weight, But I'd say all the fighters I mentioned above we're always naturally harder hitters than Murray. needless to say Murray has gave a good account for himself long may it continue.

There is a reason this guy only fought chumps. Look at the absolute lack of technique and hand speed. It's just stupid power. If you see Floyd Mayweather, Andre Ward or even Kovalev work the mitts, you see far more skill. GGG is the most overrated one trick pony of professional boxing in 2015.

Dennis Rodman The only boxer of this era who comes closes to Floyd's technical greatness and ring intelligence is Guillermo Rigondeaux. Man, I would pay to see them just spar. GGG can't hit the mitts the way they can. He isn't slick.
