Looking good, one question though, why make an MDF template from the original scratchplate when you could have just used that as the template?

Good question… and I have an answer! I actually thought the same thing and I started making a pickup cover for the treble pickup using an existing plexi cover as the template. It was going well, then I had trouble getting the trim router to use the existing plexi as a guide because it was so thin and it gouged the new piece I was making. Then to make it worse, I thought I would smooth it out on the belt sander and it took off way too much material and the whole piece was wasted. So I decided to play it safe and make the MDF template and I think it payed off, no troubles… and now I have a template if I need to make a new/different one in the future (maybe a 2024 update for fun). By the way, you definitely didn't cheat by using the primer… all the sanding you had to do on the wood filler gives you major bonus points!

Thanks Todd! The guy who did my logo was me. I created the 13/S logo for my online magazine and versioned it for the guitar builds. I’ve done a few versions, the earlier versions were on previous guitar builds. I started using them with water slide decals then had them engraved onto the neck plates as a nice customization for guitars with bolt on necks. This latest version was done for the GGBO and KZread builds. My design work/contact info is here jmdesigns.com 🤘🏼
