GGBO 2023 Kit - Episode 7 - Paint it Blue and Scrape the Binding

Episode #7 I spray the guitar with StewMac Vinyl Sealer and then StewMac Sonic Blue. Just as I'm getting ready to spray the Clear Coat, I remember to scrape the binding (my first time). I create a DIY tool to scrape the binding and then I get the first 3 coats of Clear Coat on it. Stay tuned and join us each week!

Thanks, that was something new that worked out pretty sweet. Fun doing new things (when they work out lol).
Well done especially with the binding but mine will definitely have a natural finish 😁

I agree with favoring the natural finish! It slows the build process a ton when you have to spray so many coats of finish, and god forbid you sand through your color coat. I haven't had to work around binding before, I'm not adverse to binding, but I definitely will favor thicker binding so I can show the edge without so much trouble.
My spraybooth is a plastic outdoor broom closet haha. Your work is fun to watch! With caffeine or without 😂 its looking great 👍

Ha! I was thinking of doing it again, but I may tape the wider part off when I repaint. Not sure about what to do with the thinner edge on top, I may need to scrape that… we'll see.

@13stitchesmagazine texas toast guitars tape it off, they use some 3m pin stripe stuff or something. Think you get stretchy stuff to make it easier.

Love the colour man, and that spray booth is amazing!!! How much did stewmac charge you for that??? Hope it was under 300 bucks... 😂

I'm going to start selling these paint booths for $100… 2 Lowes boxes flattened out, duck taped, screwed to the ceiling, and then slap a Stewmac sticker on it! I just need to come up with a plastic tent to capture the overspray and then I need to connect a fan that will blow the fumes out my dog door.
