Drove from Alabama, watched the parade, went to the National Cemetery on Saturday night, then on Sunday attended the Lincoln Fellowship ceremony. The cemetery on Saturday night was very impressive and solemn. Had a great time all weekend and will be staying for a few days touring the battlefield.

I was in Gettysburg in September. Learned my great-great-grandfather died as a Confederate POW at Point Lookout in Maryland two weeks after the end of the war. I've since learned I have descendants on both sides of the war. Thanks for streaming the parade.

I love hearing about your family history. I use to live near point lookout Maryland it was one of my favorite places to visit .Now I live near Gettysburg and I always tell people about how so many confederates captured in Gettysburg ended up at point lookout it was a very harsh place to be. Is your Great Great grandfather buried in the confederate mass grave monument at point lookout?

Hi Chris, Bob R here, We worked together at Chancellorsville years ago, Love to watch the parade, The irish Brigade camp marches in the Memorial Day Parade in Washington, I would play Union tunes on my bagpipes, We need to get all descendants of Union soldiers to join the SUVCW to remember. Around 19 Nov (My birthday) Cindy and I normally went to the Lincoln Forum,

Those folks really know how to put on a parade. Someday maybe I'll get to see this in person, instead of on a computer screen in Colorado.

Thank you guys for all you do at the Trust. Been a big fan for the past several years. Is that tree a surviving tree from the battle? Retired Navy and a Pa native here. I appreciate all the dedication and commitment placed on such an important time in our history. To all the hands involved in the production of The American Battlefield Trust video series I salute you. Our History cannot and will not be forgotten.

The drum corps at the beginning from berlin pa. Is a very special drum corps they were est. In 1782 and is one the countrys oldest and continuous running drum corps. The founder of the group was a revolutionary war veteran who played the fife during his time in the army when he ran away from home to join at 17 in 1777. Him and other veterans and recruits who enjoyed music teamed up to form the corps. This year (2023), they celebrated their 241 anniversary. One of the top historical moments for the corps was when they accompanied a train that was used for William McKinleys presidential campaign in 1896

We were so looking forward to seeing this. I've supported you guys for decades. I was a CW reenact. I played in a CW fife and drum corps in met day as well. We watched this ... I thought of all people, you guys would have sense enough and respect for the participants to minimize the chatter. You sounded like the Rose Bowl parade hosts. AND THAT'S NO COMPLIMENT.

Immediately after President Lincoln was the “Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States” as marked by their banner. Formed in 1865 by Union Officers, America’s oldest Civil War Veterans group, now made up of descendants of Union Officers.
