This was really interesting. I'm a DIYer that finally started learning how to weld, and flux core was the cheapest way to do it. I really like being able to understand what's going on by learning the chemistry, physics, and metallurgy. Can't wait for the deeper dive.

For as long as I've been welding professionally (20+ years)... i still love running flux core at home. No rods. No gas. No wind worries..

I’m just learning in the last year, self teaching for home projects. I’ve only used fluxcore and stick. Never mig or tig but would love to see the difference between them

@@Alaskabuilt_ Mig is great.. i use it at work 10hrs a day, 6 days a week. Tig is amazing, especially for stainless and aluminum... but requires a huge skill set and is very expensive! Flux core is perfect for at home, in the garage, outside. Very forgiving with wind, dirt and rust.. It's my go to for anything other than industrial or production work.

FCAW has some of the fastest deposition rates of any of the hand welding processes. Great for filling in work after a root pass done using TIG or MIG, nuclear quality welds are often done this way with dual-shielded flux core. 👍 A few decades ago the gasless stuff had a really bad rep due to poor formulations of flux, but it's been fixed now.

Could you do some videos on fcaw welding with nr232? Theres very little videos on that specific wire and its used all the time for structural welding. Especially when it comes to 1 inch thick qualifications for 3g and 4g AWS D1.1 testing.
