Getting to Know Sir Wilfrid Laurier
On November 20th, 2016 Canadians celebrate the 175th birthday of Sir Wilfrid Laurier. Laurier was the leader of the Liberal Party from 1887-1919 and Canada's seventh Prime Minister from 1896 to 1911. He was Canada's first francophone prime minister. After his fall from power in 1911, he spent the rest of his life as Opposition leader, trying to rebuild his Liberal party. He died in 1919. But the legacy of Laurier’s political style - his sunny ways - still resonates today.

Laurier was the last real liberal PM. His party departed the center for the left after that.

@@nikitagloukhovtchenko6857 They don't really, but everything else is an abdication of liberalism. Social Liberalism is just liberalism with some socialist ideas sprinkled in. Oppositely liberal-conservatism is liberalism with some religion/ tradition sprinkled in. "True" Liberalism is what we call classical liberalism today.

@@maverick0330 Can you define all those ideologies for me?
Look at the flag in the first seat of this car at 0:53! It's not the glof that was used at that time, nor did it even exist as an unofficial flag!
Sunny ways?! Now that sound familiar.
Online school?
From Sir Wilfred Laurier to (Trudeau 1.0) and Trudeau Jr. 2.0 … "Oh, the humanity!" (Herbert Morrison at the crash of the Hindenburg.)
Is this Canada's idea of a political biography? Pretty thin.

I would agree but there is so little out there about Canadian history except from CBC.
