A primer for getting started with R21's Field Forces. The deepest tool added into Cinema 4D for a long time! Chris shows you how to use Field Forces to have more control than ever on your dynamics and particles. It is a more methodical system than most, so learning the basics of the different velocity types, masks, blending modes, and some tips and tricks is vital!

    An extra detail not in the video. In any Field under the "Direction" tab, if you set "Length" to Normalize it becomes infinite and full strength everywhere. Combine that with masks and there's a lot of extra control. I got a few extra tips from the programmer of Field Forces, Fritz, after I posted!

    This is like 10 tutorials in one video. Amazing!!! I realized something when i was following along. to make the noise 2 dimensional, you can go to the field tab, and under relative scale set the Z dimension to something really high like 100000%. that somehow removed almost all of the effects of the noise /random field in that dimension.

    Thank you very much! Very detailed. Reminds me of the quality of Alex Alvarez' Maya tutorials. One question: Could you say that using a mask in the "object" tab is doing a similar thing as putting fields in the FFs "falloff" tab?

    This was remarkable. Thanks for the primer. Is there a way to have an object in the field force be parented to a keyframed animation elsewhere in the scene? For instance, parent a spherical field in the Field Force object tab to take on the position values of a balloon bouncing in the scene? Thanks

    @RocketLasso, at 44:45, I want that exact effect. What I don't want however is to have all the particles around it visible. I can't seem to find a way to do that. Can it be done?

    Hey! thanks a lot for the tut! Just a question, Is it possible to set a field force attractor that affects/attracts just one specific object that has rigid body simulation? (in a scene where there are few objects with rigid body) Thank :)

    Thank you. Comprehensive as always. I have one query. I want to CNC a cloth-like texture from CNC. I need to CNC a wall size wood piece of say 3000 x 3000 mm but the thickness of the wrinkles cant be more than say 50 mm. How would I control the wrinkles to be contained?

    Any idea how to mimic the Rotation force from r20? I cant seem to control the scale of the rotation.. Adding a friction did make the roation loop smaller.. I used to use a rotion force and control it using a spherical falloff.

    Have you tried adding a Radial Field? Be sure to set the "Offset" up to 360 so there is no falloff.

    @@RocketLasso ahaa! radial and spherical were what I was looking for.. just had to dail up ther strength and lower the opacity on the Radial Field.. Thanks for the help and great tut!

    I've been looking for a tutorial for hours on just to apply a force onto a spray can to tip it over but everyone has a tutorial on something else, can someone tell me how to do it?

    Certainly not obsolete, but a lot of things that would have had to be particle simulations in the past can now be built as rigs!
