Getting My Life Back / A Post-Breakup Vlog

This video was made kind of spontaneously and edited in my free time so it's all over the place, but follow me through a week of my life where I attempt to get back on top of all the things I've been neglecting while figuring myself out.

I remember watching you over 7 years ago, as a girl just out of school. You vlogged about singing and other arts, and I thought I would subscribe to you because I had a growing interest in Japan. Today I can only say that though I am not even close to being able to express any degree of empathy towards you, I just wanna say I am proud to have watched you over the years. I really enjoy you delight for mochi, and sweet bean deserts, and how you moved to the country side to experience the life there. Even after your experience with the Japanese representative of Fukuoka, I can say you are on the verge of something extraordinary. I pray you will keep going sweet Micaela and see how awesome of a person you really are. Jesus loves you!

Seeing someone go thru what you’re going thru is tough. But when you’ve had the same experience it resonates so much deeper. Letting go of the person you love and the life you shared is painful but it also validates the fact that you truly loved the person bc you’re able to let go. I see so many ppl that can’t let go bc they are more in love w attachment than actual love where you let the person go bc it’s the best choice for the both of you and you care for there future and will not be the reason they are unhappy or live an unfulfilled life. Things like finances always come w a break up as well and you push thru it and slowly you climb out of it and then After all that pain and suffering something beautiful happens. You find yourself.

When you were looking at your haircut in the mirror, I thought you reminded me of someone. You, from a few years ago! You look like yourself- maybe a slightly tired version, but that will pass. It's good to see you! One thing- everything works out, in the end. If it hasn't worked out, it's not the end. Hugs, Lady.

"Everything's gonna be okay, I think" lol. Indeed they will micaela. As long as you keep your head up high. Work for yourself, Live for yourself, Care for yourself and Love for yourself. Being a good person in life does pay off. And yes you shouldn't have to replace people that have made a positive impact in your lifetime so far. Life changes sometimes and you gotta change with it. Best way to deal with people that have come and gone in your lifetime so far is to appreciate the time you had with them. Come in terms of the positive impact that they've had in your life. And know that they've only made you grow more into a better version of yourself. You'll always have the memories with them and that's a good thing. But don't let those memories hold you back. Always gotta be strong and keep living your life for yourself. You will continue to meet wonderful new people who will have an impact in your life. Cherish all the moments and memories you experience with them and keep on living your life to the fullest. You'll be okay. I believe in you. ✊

First off, no one is allowed to be mad at you, for choices you make. I've had friends be, "too accommodating" to exes before, in situations like this, so I've done the best I could to advise them, and just be there for them. Getting mad at them, or even at the situation, isn't helping anything, and is only going to cause them more pain and stress, in the long run. You have to do what feels right for you, and if your friends can't simply be there for you, and support you, they're the ones in the wrong. That part out of the way, I highly commend you for taking steps to do things like getting your hair cut, getting your nails done, going to that tasting; These "little things" are extremely important self care, and I'm glad it all rounded out to help you have a positive experience. 😊

I got emotional at the end. I feel like I shouldn't be watching this because it's so personal to you but sometimes I feel like I know you because I've seen all your videos. You were the one that started my addiction to Japan and asian vloggers like Kim and Sharla and everyone at Tokyo Creative. I just wish you the best of happiness and hope you keep making more vlogs....more colabs would be fun too.

That's probably harder to do with the Japanese. They usually don't do half measures and with them is all or nothing. Due to the fact that they don't really know how to express themselves, ( pretty much as the Brits ) they are not really good at telling the truth. The both nations seems to be plagued by the same curse. They can't get themselves to say what they really mean, and they don't mean what they say.

No matter where you are in life we all have our own shit to take care of, so this is really inspiring! がんばれー!💓

Thanks for letting us know how you're doing, Micaela! For what it's worth, I think you clearly did the right thing in rescheduling for Tatsu's visit; both because you would've felt terrible and also gotten no closure if you didn't, and because we all genuinely make mistakes sometimes, such as missing a flight. Anyway, keep on truckin', my e-friend: your 30s are going to be great ( trust me!). 🙂

Hi buddy, I’ve been following you for........ prolly 6 years, at least. Didn’t really feel compelled to comment or say anything until now. Saw your breakup video and this one, recently. Just wanted you to know that, though I have no idea who you really are in real life, I have always admired this Micaela character in your videos and how courageous she seemed in them. Uprooting and moving to Japan, so cool. You make your life in japan look so interesting and fun. Things will get better, and you’ll figure out where to be and what to do in this next season of life. I will offer this: being consistent in the gym has really helped me take the edge off heartbreak/ache. And now I’m pretty jacked (imagine all the heartbreak I had to work though! LOL). Take care of yourself, ok? ps, I can still hear your Canadian accent after all these years ;)

I love that you made this. You've become such a beautiful woman over these years. I'm glad you were able to show a bit of the person behind the curtain. But don't be afraid to be you and be vulnerable, here. I know it's easy to hide behind the vlog format and make everything seem greater than it is. We're normal people who struggle with stuff, too, and being vulnerable and genuine helps us cope with our problems while, hopefully, also providing you a place where you can feel comfortable and even have it be a bit therapeutic. =) I'm happy to be here for each one.

I love everything you said at the end of this video! It's so good. Also both times you said you looked exhausted, you didn't at all to me. It's good to have friends who offer opinions but of course your decisions are yours and you live with them. I've also worried that I'm too accommodating to people, but the other side of that would be me actively being non-accommodating just for the sake of not establishing a bad pattern with the other person, which feels weird and manipulative. It's a risk--I've had people get mad because they're so used to me being like that, that one day when I'm not it feels like a huge betrayal to them. But that's on them. Weight training is sooooo satisfying. I hope that you get a lot of enjoyment and benefits from it and stick with it!

I usually never leave comments but I’ve been watching you for years and watching you grow has inspired me so much. I also went through a complicated breakup early this year (we don’t speak anymore) and understand how hard it is to find your place in the world without that person by your side... if that makes sense. For me it was hard to feel confident in myself for a while and I started with chopping off all my hair up to my chin, I hadn’t cut it since 8th grade and am now in my early 20’s. For some reason getting a haircut after a chain of stressful events lifts up your confidence right? Then i started yoga and have been doing it everyday since we broke up. Just doing little things for myself made me feel much better. Overall, I’m insanely proud of you. This is not easy, there will be ups and downs. The only thing that we can rely on is time and a good supporting group of friends. I’m excited to see your relationship with yourself grow and know your thoughts because it makes me feel not alone. Take care and see you in instagram!

I was in an accident about 4 years ago which resulted in me losing a lot of my personal memories of the past. It was pretty terrifying being essentially dropped into a life that I had 0 recollection of. During my recovery months, I ended up finding your channel on the recommended tab, and ever since then I've really enjoyed watching your videos. It really opened up my eyes to the fact that the world is so much bigger than you're led on to believe, and it's a world that I wanted to explore and get to know myself in. I never ended up regaining any of my old memories, but I've made a lot of great, new ones, and I've spent the last 4 years traveling and finishing up my degree online. I don't think I would have had the courage to do that if it hadn't been for you and your channel, so thank you :D!

Thank you for allowing yourself to be so honest and vulnerable in your vlogs. Not only does it help us feel more connected with you but I definitely think it helps you work through your feelings, too. I'm glad to see that things are looking up for you and that you're starting to feel comfortable in your own skin again. Sending you lots of love from Colorado

You're doing your best, there is no correct way to do it or one that fits everyone. I'm a little more than three years on from a situation that was nearly the end of me (not exaggerating) and though there are still more rough days than smooth ones I'm here. You'll get through this, maybe not in a way you envisioned, but you will. Good to see your vlogs again, especially Ohori Park.

Hi Micaela! Can i just say it's so nice to see you be so raw and honest about what's been going on. It's really refreshing to see a blogger unafraid to show the downs along with the ups, especially your feelings about seeing Tatsu again after the break up. Your willingness to show that makes me feel a little less alone in my own struggles. Hope you're doing well and can't wait to watch you manifest better things for yourself

Thank you so much... specially to you but also to all the kind people writing you comments of their breakup experiences. This light helps me so much. All of the comments and what you said make me put things into perspective and, idk, breathe. What a nice community. Hope to see more content like that and whatever you want to post as well. ❤️

The new "do" looks so good on you! I think it gives you that fancy & free feel going into the new season. It is good that you spend time to pamper yourself as you did here. I love food and when I saw what you made, immediately I became hungry. Japanese foods with all the vegetables and mushrooms are the best. Yet, I love my yakitori, kushitori, sakana and tempura, too! There will be one day ahead when you awaken in the morning you will find the bad vibes of the break up and all that goes along with it will be gone. With that weight missing when it happens on this particular day, life will start to flow much easier and you will be much stronger to deal with any negative times that may come along. Keep doing what you are doing, in the increments you feel comfortable with, and things will straighten out in due time. You are a wonderful, sweet person and I wish you the best!
