Gettin' Jiggy with It: Jigging for Gray Trout (Weakfish) in Morehead City

Спорт

Jess and I went to Morehead City yesterday to fish with our friend Alton and his son, Zander. Originally, we were supposed to target bonito, but they were nowhere to be found after several days of high winds, so we headed back inshore to target some gray trout (weakfish).
We came upon a flotilla of small boats, and like most other fishermen, we assumed that someone there had found and was catching fish. It took a bit of trial and error, but eventually we got the hang of jigging up the trout (and a few other surprises) before the increased tide drove the fish off.
For the trout, we were using 6'6" to 7'2" medium light Bass Pro Carbonlite rods paired with 2000 series Carbolite spinning reels, which were spooled with 20 lb Powerpro braid with a 20lb flurocarbon leader. The preferred jig was a 3/4 oz Sea Striker jigfish lure in either silver or blue, jigged vertically 12"-18" off the bottom. I really like these combos because they are very light and the rods have great action for smaller gamefish in the 1-5 lb range, plus the reels have a whopping 22 lbs of drag, so they can handle the occasional larger fish.

When you publish your videos, make sure to export them 2k@60fps. It'll get rid of the avc1 codec that they're giving you. Makes your content play back at 360p

I actually upload them in 4K... I don't know if KZread had finished rendering it before you got a chance to view it, but you can view it in 2160p down to 144p now

@@kayak_chris gotcha. YT was killing me for the first year or so because gopro footage automatically goes to 59FPS. A friend with a much larger channel would upload 1080 and it would look 10 times better than mine just because of the codec.
