Not a church fight, but speaking the truth in love and correction is necessary. Especially when demoninationalism already misuses the biblical words. We don't want confusion in the church. So education is vital and necessary

I have attended church of Christ all my life, but I've never heard anyone called a bishop. Thanks for the lessons. Love all of them.

I have been thinking about what you were teaching last week I have a class with a brother and we are reading the bible front to back and we came across Deuteronomy 24 :1-5 and I was thinking about what you where talking about voting Acts 1:25-26.

The Bible is clear 2 Corinthians 3:6 ► He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant-not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

The Spirit lead them! Today as preachers, teachers and ministers of the Word we are lead by the “WORD”! The Word of God leads us not the Spirit of God as He did in the days of Paul. That pastoral service was different than it is today.

The elders hire the minister of the church, so they serve in an administrative role. However, I do believe the Deacons have many roles that are not being used properly. Been in the church my entire life and deacons are treated like gophers. Deacons are to serve and should have more administrative responsibilities so elders CAN oversee the people. But in COC, the elder role is a role of power and they don’t want to relinquish the power AND control. Unfortunately some Ministers are dictators and control the elders, deacons, and members for their own selfish purpose.

The elders don't "hire" the minister. Even though that's what has been practiced. According to scripture, hiring a preacher is not found as a part of their duties.

in ACTS 6;2 i see where the apostles appointed 7 men for the work.. i dont see where the ministers or evangelist appointed the 7 men. Was this office a deacon position and not a elder. Just trying to be exact with what the the bible teaches.. This is one of the reasons i attend all your classes. Knowledge, knowledge,knowledge.. Got to apply your lesson on divorce with a sister yesterday. Used the scriptures you gave and the logic. thank you. jp

Acts 6:3 - states the apostles appointed but the people chose.

Please read 1st Timothy 3:1 -2 again it doesn’t say that a man must desire the office of an elder or bishop it says if he desires the position of an elder or bishop he desires a good work that is not a Qualification verse two then gives the qualification to become an elders or bishop’s. Desire isn’t a qualification it’s a good thing to desire/have a desire do you meet the qualifications.

Most church of Christ assemblies have it correct as brother Williams says however most of your demomanations r incorrect and use the word incorrectly.

They different because some are spiritual and some are not. Spiritual eyes have insight, that comes from being converted. If you never spend time with God you can't transform into his likeness. God is a Spirit Being. Prophets and Apostle's must be able to see and hear. If he can't see is because he doesn't believe. Definitions doesn't come from the dictionary only. You might not know how to study. Scriptures are broken down line upon line precept upon precept. Your meaning of one Word can be searched in the language Jesus is. Hebrew, Arabic. If you don't use all the materials to understand the Word, you got God in a box. God create boxes, you can't reduce Him to your equal. Learn how to get the insight, and don't read the Bible as a fable, taking it at face value. If you live the scriptures, you will live in Jesus, you will do what Jesus did in the bible. Stop dumming down the people. We are Supernatural beings. If you don't demonstrate by walking in the power, all your reading that you're trying to discuss is misleading. Every scripture is lived. When you do that you can live in the God realm. The church got enough division, you need to grow before you can teach the word of God.
