I just wanted to thank you for the advice on ick, I lost a whole community tank to it 2 years ago and I couldn’t bear to keep fish until very recently. I have 2 tanks set up now and one got infested, the fish were covered. After watching your video I turned the temperature up and fed them garlic as you advised. It’s been 2 weeks, all my fish are healthy, ick free and happily swimming and eating. I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and help save so many fish!

Hi Father Fish, in January I bought a betta and I absolutely love him. I had him in a 'plastic tank' but after watching your video, I got a 20 gallon and am getting ready to do a deep substrate for him. I was apprehensive to do a planted tank in the beginning but now, 5 months later after finding your video, I am eager to give my betta a real eco system. I bought him some tank mates as well, a racer snail, neon tetras and a few albino corys, and he seems to really enjoy their company. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I love watching your videos and being educated on how to properly keep fish happy and healthy.

@@FatherFish Absolutely. I feed those tanks a bit heavier than the others just for that reason, and the speed of growth of the duckweed has been a good indicator of how high the nutrients are in the tank.

Hi father fish! I adore you! Your so knowledgeable! I wish i knew about you 8 months ago. I have two 38 gallon tanks. One has been set up and healthy for 6 months (was previously a healthy planted 20 gallon for 4 years). Well, i got anther 38 gallon and decided to create another community tank. I stocked it with 8 platty fish and 4 skunk cory catfish, 1 little stiphodon goby, and 1 male guppy ( he was the last one in his aquarium and call me a goober but i felt bad that he was alone) Anyway, since the entire aquarium was new... i didn't quarantine... two weeks later... my Cory's don't look great.. they're pale and i noticed most of the tank has white stringing poop. My guess was parasites? They're also ... flicking on plants and other things in the tank... Then i noticed one.. maybe two have tiny grandual looking white dots... ich??? I've never had parasites or illness so I'm struggling with diagnosis. I paniced when i went to hop in the car and noticed i have a flat. Ugh! I live in Alaska and also need to get water from a station. My well water always kills fish so i don't use it. Anyway... i only had ich treatment at home... so i crossed my fingers and mixed some of the tabs with water and added it to my aquarium. Tears in my eyes because i get a bit too attached. And i had baby platty fish in there... I'm sure they won't survive the medicine. I wish i had known about you. I bet you have a better idea. I should know a lot more after 5 years. Water parents PH: 7.6 ish Ammonia: 0 Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 10 to 15 (color on chart is in between the 10 and the 20ppm) Any advice is very appreciated! I'm watching your video now. Maybe the answer is in here(?) Regardless- thank you for your informative videos!

ive had angels in rock hard water TDS over 500 and 89 F not on purpose it was the only quarantine tank I had avaibale when I got them and they have been fine. I needed to move them to a slightly cooler tank with much softer water and have been slowly dropping the TDS over a few days putting in water from the new tank and so far fine and they seem to eat anything and I found out they can bite LOL.

what if you put a layer of something like shadecloth between the dirt layer and the sand? I havn't tried it I am thinking of trying it for digging fish?. It would stop them digging into the dirt somewhat, and maybe have a thin layer of gravel and some pebbles over the shadecloth under the sand? Microbes and little things should still be able to pass through that but it would probably stop that bottom layer getting messed up, Might be a solution to try? I am going tio try it with my bichirs when they get bigger.
