Appreciate the demonstration. Makes sense. I'm gonna start calling them "Volumecanoes" b/c you're digging craters for the lava (peak volume) to bust through.

Thanks for this explanation! One question I have is when should I do this with static EQ vs dynamic EQ or side-chain compression?

Personally speaking - all the time. I never use Side-Chain except for stylistic reasons. And you can use dynamic EQs if you want, I never do.
