Get Low With This Enormous Flute

Paige Long is a world-renowned flutist. She’s also one of a small number of people who can play the three largest flutes in the flute family: the double subcontrabass, the subcontrabass and the contrabass. With tubing that stretches up to 22 feet in length, these instruments require a strong set of lungs to be able to carry a tune. But, as the director of New England’s all-flute orchestra, Long is a bit of an expert. Let her blow you away.

The flutes: the lowest maintenance of the woodwinds, but the hardest to learn The saxes: you can either have the worst sound or the sexiest sound The clarinet: the lower the note, the more beautiful it is The trumpet: want your head explode in seconds? then try playing the high notes!!! The trombone: precision is key...or you would sound like a middle school kid The tuba: the base that always gets overseen by percussion Percussion/String/Key: Admit it. Your parents wanted you to play *one* (mainly string or key) of those three types of instruments...

I grew up in the 80's and 90's and and this is very reminiscent of Sesame Street from when I was growing up! Sure it might be appealing to children, but a lot of people that are watching these are adults, and to be honest I really did not enjoy the pandering... It was quite annoying. Sorry. :-(

Why so much hate for the style. GBS has always had a lighthearted approach to the documentary style. This isn't new. I like it better than a boring interview. Its not like every other documentary; it's light, breezy, and easy to understand

Pls WaLuigi Dom Me if you want a childish educational system, go watch Sesame Street. Documentary’s are for teens upwards. This was one of the only documentary channels that I found educational, with facts that were useful. If you want something easy to watch and that’s educational, don’t go looking for a documentary channel. If you find interviews boring then why even bother?

They’re the second instrument that takes the most air because they have such a short tubing. Just because you can hold a note for 20+ seconds long doesn’t mean that you can hold it for long while playing a piece.
