In 1990 I was diagnosed with cancer. In the hospital for week long stints of Chemotherapy while the gulf war raged on TV. My parents would make the 700 mile trip to be with me...............and this song was there. Still brings me to tears. My parents have passed and not a day goes that I don't think about them and the sacrifices they made for me. If you love someone......anyone....tell them. Tomorrow is never promised.

I'd be honored if some fans of late 80s/early 90s ballads would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of GET HERE (IF YOU CAN) by Oleta Adams and HEAVEN HELP ME by Deon Estus & George Michael on my channel in tribute to the era. Live acoustic with no autotune. Thanks and peace.

Anytime I hear this song I cry. No matter who sings it or how. For me it represents a love that never happened because life just kept getting in the way. For those of you that have found love in your life. Hold onto it. Take care of it. Maintain it and never let it go or you'll end up like me. An old person alone.

When I first met my sister who had been given up for adoption five years before me (our biological mother kept 1 child out of 8) I was raised by my Grand parents with in the family and had always hear of my sister Gloria, out of the blue and with the help of my adopted father (Grandfather)me and Gloria spoke for the first time in 1995, I was living in Los Angeles, CA and she lived in Portland OR, she flew me up to meet her and it was the most amazing experience EVER, I still have one more sister to meet that cannot be located, her name is Linda, thanks for reading my little story, blessings y'all

David Decarlo This is a beautiful story David, thank you so much for sharing! My mother has a story quite similar to yours except she was the only sibling out of 4 to never be adopted, she spent her childhood in an institution. All 4 of my Aunts were adopted by the same family. Not sure why my mom wasn't. But she was 10 when she last saw them, her youngest sibling was an infant. My mom is now in her late 60's. In 1990 she located her sisters again and arranged to meet them. She met all except the youngest, she couldn't come at that time. To this day those 2 still haven't met, which is sad. I keep in contact with their children via Facebook. Thank God for technology. I hope you find Linda & get to meet her soon. I love stories like these of reunions and happy endings. ❤

You can reach me by railway, you can reach me by trailway You can reach me on an airplane, you can reach me with your mind You can reach me by caravan, cross the desert like an Arab man I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can You can reach me by sailboat, climb a tree and swing rope to rope Take a sled and slide down the slope, into these arms of mine You can jump on a speedy colt, cross the border in a blaze of hope I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can There are hills and mountains between us Always something to get over If I had my way, surely you would be closer I need you closer There are hills and mountains between us Always something to get over If I had my way, surely you would be closer I need you closer You can windsurf into my life, take me up on a carpet ride You can make it in a big balloon, but you better make it soon You can reach me by caravan, cross the desert like an Arab man I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can I don't care, I don't care I need you right here right now I need you right here right now right by my side yeah yeah Get here I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can.

Thank you for posting this wonderful song! It reminds me of someone special who I haven't seen in five months. My godfather, who used to be my assistant principal back in August 2007 since I was in the seventh grade along with his family who I've haven't seen for five months had came to my church on Sunday November 18th, 2018 for a thanksgiving meal. I was listening to this song while doing my church greeter job until him and his family had shown up in his wife's luxury 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe. My godfather and his family sat right behind me and our former coach which I felt shaken and surprised; however, my godfather admits to me & our former coach that he wasn't able to see me in the fall because he's busy which almost got me into tears of joy when he'd opened up while being honest. 😢

This song was played at my friends funeral he was only 27 he was a car salesman in Lincoln and one day decided he didn’t want to live anymore. So he went that night and shut his garage door and the rest is history. He was such a nice guy and he left us too soon. R.I.P My Dear Friend It’s been a very long time but I will never forget you.

Been trying to remember this singer's name for a long long time. First heard here back in the 80's along with Anita Baker, Sade and well u know the list. I saw her name on a pop up here and the light came on, which it doesn't do very often these days. So good to hear her again.
