Why do I cramp up in upper back of legs when i do certain knee bends, or try to get heels to touch buttocks?

Old cat lady here and just realized I do these partial squats multiple times a day to scoop out litter boxes and put plates of food on the floor. Do a lot of calf raises attempting to reach higher shelves. At 80 I can do full Asian squat and stay there a short while, but coming up I do need to assist myself. Need to practice more for sure.

Yes! Same here, late 60s, with dogs and gardening-- Labs, 15 years old, bend over to help guide her around, feed her, etc. Stooping, squatting, garden and yard work, dozens of 'reps' every day. Sometimes i wish for a little rest from it, but then i realize this routine is probably what's keeping me vertical. Go, Codgers! 💪🙂👍

I have a dog and I realized a while ago how much I squat during the day because of her. So much that I wonder how I'm gonna keep up when she's not with us anymore.

Retired 70 year old male ex postman of 35 years.fairly fit still but found after finishing work 3 years ago I’ve developed aching knees and ankles and hips. Well while browsing through KZread I came across ur video for over 50’s on ham string tightness and how to ease it. I tried to touch my toes and found I was a mile away from achieving it. So started doing ur routine every morning and within 2 months I could touch my toes with ease. I also found ur Asian squat exercise and hip mobility ones. Which I also do every morning.I was so stiff when I first started but now do them with ease. Also my knee ankles and hip pain has vanished also finger joint pain. Thank you so much for taking the time to share such valuable knowledge.I bless the day I came across your you tube Chanel. 😮

I practice a lot of therapy learned from your show and as a result my 62-year-old body's joints all work very well. I've bodyboarded in the past and very much want to learn how to surf. My daughter is studying abroad in Osaka Japan in the Fall and I would love to know where the SURF Wave Park is and take a lesson!

This is definitely a blind spot for me as well. We do like to think we’re all perfect. I call that street survival. 🥊 So I’ve been using cable weight machine to strengthen in all directions. But it’s no where as good as copying a move we use in real life like you’ve done. I’m on it! At 57 years old I’m all about keeping my body as safe and healthy as I (realistically) can. Thanks for all the things you’ve posted. Great teaching techniques!!

How do you stop a fall. I’m interested that I mentioned this to my class yesterday. There is a dance going on here-direction forward and up engaging erects spinae, on non-weight bearing leg release of ankle and knee joints. As well as on weight bearing leg the tone development you describe. If there is no release in joints of the non-weight bearing leg this will propel your body off balance with momentum and force.

STRETCH THOSE HIPS in ALL directions on a regular basis. I spent the last couple years neglecting my hip stretching and going hard on surfing every chance I got and the loss of hip mobility has been shocking!!! As it comes back, the pop-up feels a lot smoother and faster.
