If I remember right, the treaty signed between Spain and Britain ending the slave trade had some exceptions for Spain and I think Portugal to keep the slaves they already had in their colonies for a period of time, but that should have ended in 1820. Though that would mean Portugal should start with legacy slavery too. But that might be the root of Paradox's logic there.

I think for Spain at least it has to do with Cuba and Puerto Rico having slavery. It's like how the US banned the slave trade in 1808, but didn't abolish slavery until 1865. Brazil is its own nation at the start of the game, so that's probably why Portugal doesn't have legacy slavery. Also, Brazil starts out with the slave trade which is accurate.

Actually for the Gold Mines to appear Gold Fields (which do not require building) should collapse first, if I remember correctly. Also, as Spain you can form Iberian Union by subjugating Portugal (at least for before 1.6, I'm not sure about now) - thus you get a lot of colonies (including a port in China) and a lot of accepted pops.

Legacy slavery is one of the actually accurate laws they put for Spain, there was no more slave trade, but Cuba had slavery until 1898

Slavery at the peninsula was very common, with many cases of indians slaves after revolts, moorish and mostly blacks/black descendants. Also many slaves were not registered and in the colonies serfdom under almost slavery condituons were common. Its just stupid to say there was not slavery when there wasn't emancipation. They just stopped enslaving, but the slaves were not freed, they just died as slaves from old age or bought their freedom with their salary

Ceau ludi. I recently did a run as romania where i build up and made a powerblock that was balkan union themed (used the trade league block). Now i am not that great at the game so i think that i did it supper ineficiently(but i got rng carried by democratic landowners) so ill be great to see somebody thats good at the game show how its done. It was also great fun so yeah.

Pro tip: make your capital Valencia at the start. It's obviously a great state, and I always have great runs when I do that. The state you start with as your capital sucks. Having the bonuses being a capital brings is pretty good to add to Valencia. Plus, pops move from Madrid to other states that are better more easily if it's not the capital.

Vic 3 is quickly becoming my favorite.

To think Spain managed to get all of South America in the end like that, while also getting the economy and a lot of pretty good legislation. I suspect sorting out the various puppets or integrating them would take some effort still though, though one would have an absurd amount of territory and available resources if one could.

Tip: If you need wood, build logging camp in the amazon as there are a lot of wood.

Yes, it only ended the slave trade. In Cuba, slavery was still practiced until 1896. It was similar to the US ending the slave trade in 1808, but not ending slavery until 1865.

One of the biggest challenges I like to try in the game is to unite southeast asia as the Philippines. So far, no dice 😓. I can manage to snag Malaysia and Indonesia but never the rest of the mainland.

That statement about slavery is incorrect. Yes, slavery in the Iberian parts of the Spanish Empire was abolished jn 1817, however, it continued in Cuba and Puerto Rico until 1886 in Cuba and 1873 in Puerto Rico. One of the reasons that caused the independence of Cuba was the slavery that a significant portion of the population was subjected to. So yes, legacy slavery is accurate in Vic3

They slave trade ended with the treaty, but slavery still existed in the Spanish Empire. Cuba didn't abolish slavery until 1896, for example. It's like what happened in the US with the slave trade ending in 1808, but slavery not being abolished until 1865. That's why Spain still has legacy slavery.

@@dayvon1337 increase amount of production by either building buildings or the fastest way getting better technology and changing production methods for existing buildings. So for example with 5 iron mines on 1st PM u get 100 iron, but if you get compressed engines, the same 5 mines produce 300 iron, so you tripled your gdp from same amount of buildings. 10m gdp in 5 years is not that big btw, watch my prussia run, I did like 400mil in 5 years ^-^
