Yes, they are and yes, they are both built in the SR suntour factory in Asia.

Same chassis for sure. Internals are different

Among other things, the 3rd gen Topaz has a burly 15mm internal shaft that makes it very strong (and also I guess displaces more air and oil-- not sure how that change affects performance or if it's internally compensated-for). In addition, the Triair has an IFP in the boost can, where the Topaz is one of the few shocks on the market to use a bladder, touted to increase sensitivity and speed up compression-rebound transitions.

Hey quick question for ya, which is better with arm and hand pump. A ZEB ultimate or 38? I have a 36 factory on the trail bike but I got a gen 5 slash to race this summer. What’s your take? 38 or Zeb?

Zeb, way plushier, way simpler to set up, brilliant fork, 38 is way too stiff, less forgiving, but the zeb is kinda the sweetspot, i've tested both and i really like the sensitivity of the Zeb and the support it offers.

@@simondaberooni6483 “Way to stiff” is a chassis thing. I’m used to a zeb and a fox 40 stiffness and strength help with small bump compliance. I’m asking Otter about tuning and overall ride feel

I have a video of both going head to head. Fox is 9 times more plush and easier on body. Zeb only works good for hard charging.

There is a new Topaz that is about to come out and it will have independent HSC and LSC.

I have seen it on the gas gas ebike.

That'd be the "X", aka "Prime" aka "WP". Apparently this feature may also become available as a (quite expensive) conversion for certain Topaz models. It's worth noting the existing 3 position lever works pretty well. "Open" is pretty open, "Mid" is open in LSC and more controlled in HSC, and "Closed" is a very effective lockout, with a blowoff for hard hits.

Apparently US pounds are the same as imperial ones at 454g, and I think there are 16 ounces in a pound. Those are "avoirdupois" ounces, not Troy or fluid ounces. Weight does vary a bit with with the size of the shock, and whether you use a "lightweight" (higher quality steel) spring or just regular.
