I never saw Billy Connolly cry before, but this shows how much love he had for Gerry and that they were still brothers despite thier previous differences.R.i.p. Gerry.

You really k n e w g e r r y? T e a r s are p o o l i n g in my eyes. Like he said all the best people do it.. I love blood and Glory with a banjo accompaniment giving it an authentic Civil War vibe over here in America. I've played right down the line as a wedding song at five different weddings. He was just as great a songwriter, as he was singer and musician. I will play and sing his songs to my last breath. Thank you Mr Nathan it was like getting a word from him I appreciate the contact. God bless you and yours. Much love from Sarasota Florida over on the Gulf Coast. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in 2023

I still remember those days back to 1976 when Gerry surprised the whole world with his majestic album : city to city, for Casablanca my birth town Gerry rafferty became a household name, a lot of Moroccoans realised what a genius was at work. RIP Gerry we'll always love and admire you that's for sure.

Every time I hear "what ever's written in your heart" I must cry, dont't know why... maybe because of Jerry, being very underestimated, maybe because it tells something about my own life with the person I really love... it moves me.... He loved to drink... so do I.... and that's allright.... Learning to play the piano at 57.... I will play Gerry's songs

Gerry Rafferty also wasn't afraid of change as far as getting into different genres of music is concerned. On his final album, it's obviously more 'gospel' type; and I'm not putting him down for that. When I saw Billy Connolly cry, that showed me how much he truly loved Gerry, as if he was like brother to him, in spite of their past differences musically. My biggest regret is not hearing about Gerry earlier prior to his death. I hope that his legacy lives on. Sure, he had his frailties and dark side, but that's of course part of being human. My condolences to all of his family members and friends. Gerry Rafferty, rest in peace, and I hope to meet you in the afterlife.

To say "he was a rascal, but he was our rascal" doesn't exonnerate him at all. I've no idea what type of person he was. But if there were negative things to say aout him, then they stand. You can't try to overlook them by saying things like "he was OUR rascal". It doesn't matter how wide a (fake) smile billy connolly tries to put on it.
