Germaphobe is REPULSED at How Hoarder Lives | Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners | Episode 15 | Filth
Ойын-сауық
This series follows people who, by their own admission, cannot stop cleaning and carefully matches them with someone whose home is in dire need of a spring clean. Together these people with such contrasting compulsions will explore how their different behavior affects their lives.
The first cleaning volunteer is beautician Caren, 44, from Warrington. Caren spends £50 a week on cleaning products and cleans for at least four hours a day.
Even her son Ricky has to adhere to her strict cleaning regime and her cat Claudia is only allowed outside on a lead.
Caren will be helping out unemployed Linda, 65, and her son Matt, 24. They have being living amongst grime for nine years, including cheese splatter on the ceiling, pots that have not been washed for a month, and out of date

I LOVE watching these programmes 🤣. But there are things that make me wonder... if someone (such as Hayley) is a complete germaphobe, how is she OK wearing her shoes indoors? And if your floor is cleaned twice a day how is the water physically quite dirty, mine is done once a week (and I have a dog) and the water is much cleaner than hers 🤔. On a side note, that 24 year old boy needs a good shake, lazy lazy lazy boy. Wouldn't even help clean his own home for an hour because he had to get up early 🤬
@xannay
2 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Thank you! I am nowhere near being a germaphobe, but wearing shoes at home is usually a big NO. And that filthy water was quite suprising. It was either just edited this way by the filming crew or she was cleaning something outside or some surface such as bricks... or... you can really bring a lot of filth on your shoes if wearing them inside. My floor is not that dirty either, I clean it once a week as well and I have two small kids. Of course, if they make a mess, spill something etc. I wipe it right away, but I do entire floor just once a week and the water is still cleaner than that.

I love all the older / elderly persons on this show...whether Hoarders or Ocd.....they are more respectful and easy going.....
As a person with depression, I know ho overwhelming it can be to start cleaning sometimes and having a person full of energy and motivation coming round really helps. I think this is the big positive of these OCD helpers. Living with someone else can also help, because their well being matters, even when you don't have the will to do it for yourself. Even if I would let myself slip on the cleaning (once a week, like a normal non-OCD person), I can't have my partner come home after work to a disgusting house.
@Chiller-pc1dv

The thing is though, performing compulsions when you have OCD will only make the disorder much worse. And I myself have it, so performing the compulsions themselves is also incredibly stressful. They are done in hopes to reduce distress, but it's a cycle and it's damaging.

@@Chiller-pc1dv thank you, I had not considered the distress for the person suffering OCD having to answer compulsions, only the possible benefits of such a short acquaintance. At the start of the year I moved in with partner and his family that have lived in their house in for 15 years, over time the mess become so out of hand and I couldn’t handle it. My house was never bleach clean but it was never dirty so I became sick for 3 months but when I stated to get better I started doing little things here and there and they honestly didn’t even realise those places/things were dirty. My partner had changed his ways and helps out a lot but his mum had lived like this so long she just doesn’t know how to clean anymore :( . It breaks my heart when I come home from work and the place I’ve just cleaned is already dirty but to be honest i think it’s an illness and denial. She was lovely and you could see she really wanted to do the same with hers rather than trying to make Karen feel like she was the odd one for keeping her home in order.

It's to see how affective the cleaning routine is so they do it and if it's a low reading the cleaning is working, if it's a high reading they need to adjust it That's literally the whole point to see if the excessive cleaning is needed x
Flies in the bedroom, I mean how do they manage to be so dirty?
These OCD people are driving themselves CRAZY with their cleaning obsession. The irony is while these people think what their doing is normal, in reality, their ruining their lives by focusing on cleaning and not on other important things in life like friends and family and other relationships

The thing is, with real OCD, those of us with it know it's not normal. And doing the cleaning isn't the most common compulsion. Contamination OCD is only one of many forms of OCD.
That old man Mick says that Jamie has a “cleaning disorder” when he is the one who has been living in total filth for all of these years.
That toilet! How could one leave the toilet to be so dirty? Yuck...
I've got OCD..... Check things repeatedly & am scared of germs.

I don't like odd numbers; If I turn the volume of the T V down it has to be turned down to say 20 not 21. You're not alone.
The stain on the wall...wtf! 43:54
I love Caren so much, and Hayley. I love their voices.❤

He's going to be divorced soon. He might be available to earn a bit of extra cash.No wife or child wants to be controlled like that.

The best you help comes from Jesus Christ! He is ready to carry all your burdens and anxieties. Mathew 11:28-30 Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

@@patriciaelizabethlo5450 - I'm wondering whether a supplement specifically for focus would help you? Maybe you could ask your doctor about this. I find that nootropic supplements are very helpful for me.
