Germanic Paganism: How Accurate is it in Barbarians?
In Netflix's "Barbarians" ("Barbaren" in its original dub), the Germanic pagan peoples have been depicted in a meticulously thought out way. But how accurate is their depiction compared to the sources who left us what little we know about the Germanic people to this very day?
In this video, I aim to set out how accurately the Germanic people have been depicted and what we can learn both from the series as well as the classical sources that spoke of these people who wander the swamps and dark forests of Germania.
If you would like to learn more about the Battle of Teutoburg Forest, you can see more about it in my video here: • The Consequences of th...

Some apologies are in order! First of all because of how late this video came out (I had originally planned for it to be released about half a year ago, when Barbarians was first released) and secondly for the wonky audio quality during the recorded video bits. I'm still trying to work out a way to set things up properly for live recordings, so you're going to have to bear with some amateuristic levels of audio now and then. Having said that, my next video shouldn't take another half a year to make! Anyway, I'd love to know what you all thought of Barbarians and, of course, whether you have any more suggestions for historical series - English or otherwise! I had some great suggestions in previous videos, so keep them coming!
This guy is so, so underrated.
Dude, been checking out a lot of german shows thanks you. Gonna move there next year and it really helps watching German shows to learn German. Also, those shows are all cool. So keep them coming!

There are few better ways to learn a new language just by plunging yourself into it through media at a steady rate, so watching shows or news broadcasts is definitely a great way to do so! Good luck in making your way there!

The accent sounded French to me and I am from Germany.
At first I thought this said “Germanic plagerism”
I'm German scandanavian decent and live in Cincinnati,OH. A major German hub from the beginning of the USA. Everything is German here. The Germans came here bc it mirrors Germany on it's map coordinates. Weather is the same too. We have a neighborhood called "over the Rhine" (bc it's directly over the Ohio river). Beer everywhere, German names everywhere. Now here's what's nuts - I haven't met ONE local who knows a THING about our old religion. You'll occasionally find some guys who've been in prison who knows about asatru, but never a normal "civilian". I do though, it's my major interest. I've found ways to use it to my own empowerment. Also, chicks love it when a man knows n respects his ancient roots.
