    Great weapon. Some WW-2 US soldiers actually used them. Also many British WW-2 veterans discarded their Sten Guns for the MP-40 that fired the same round as the Sten of 9X19MM Parabellum. Great weapon and it stands up today very well.

    My Dad said that he carried one for a while. He was a scout in the 66th Armored Field Artillery Battalion, 4th Armored Division in Patton's Third Army. He told me that they had over ran a German supply dump in the early fall of 1944 and, in addition to all of the booze, there were crates of arms. He found a crate of MP40's and crates of pre loaded magazines and helped himself to some. He said that he liked the MP40 because it was lighter then the Thompson submachine gun, just as reliable and accurate. He ditched it after he ran out of the preloaded magazines and just as well because you didn't want to be caught carrying a German submachine gun at the outbreak of the Battle of the Bulge according to my Dad.

  • @GodlessReason

    @GodlessReason

    That's a myth. The truth is, they collected the guns, but didn't use them during the war for good reasons: 1. They weren't trained on the gun. Using a gun you're not properly trained on is a disadvantage, even if it's superior - high risk. 2. Allied supply didn't include 9x19mm Parabellum ammo. The Thompson fired .45 ACP. Even though the cartridge is among the most popular today, back in WW2 soldiers would've depended on constantly looting enemy soldiers to get ammo - very high risk. 3. During a firefight nobody can see shit, because everyone has their heads down. Soldiers were trained to know the sound of enemy guns. They used their ears to locate enemies, so firing the MP40 would've attracted friendly fire and grenades - suicidal risk.

There's reports of gearboxes being installed incorrectly at factory level, incorrect gears being installed in the gearboxes, welds not finished properly creating structural integrity issues, recoil piston failures and a whole host of other potentially fatal problems. Let me tell you, reliability of any nation's tanks was about the same, the difference was in the recovery of those broken down tanks, or replacement of them with fresh equipment.

    z y and the v2 rocket barely touched orbit, it was an extremely dumbed down overly expensive short range missile and was one of hitlers over ambitious plans. Also i have mention how almost all the german military was using horses over vehicles, the quality control of the small amount of vehicles (tanks etc) was so bad that the panthers average distance it would drive before breaking down was so fucking short. The stg44 was also notorious for jamming, breakages and stoppages due to its poor design and the only reason why its so popular is due to the thousands of dumb wehraboos on the internet saying 'mUh gErMaN gUns sUpeRiOr bEcAuSe AsSuAlT rIfLe' fucking educate your self and go back to 4chan with the rest of ur neckbeard incel friends

    Incredible photography. The slow mo of the bolt stripping a round of the top of the magazine and the ejector doing its thing... In the late 70s as a teenager whose dad was stationed in Germany, I got to know a former Wehrmacht soldier rather well. His first airplane ride was almost the Luftwaffe flying them out of Russian encirclement. Instead, he and some buddies tried to escape through the lines. Ended up in a Russian POW camp for five years. His first airplane ride was with me 34 years later! That's not the point here, though. He said the quality of steel in the magazine springs was very poor. They would unload the magazines and stretch out the springs before each patrol. Interesting side note - the POW camp was so far out in the sticks that it had no fence. There was nowhere to go and no way to get there. The Russians kept POWs as late as 1955.

    The mp-40 was initially produced with the same charging handle as the mp-38 and suffered from the same safety issue. Not only the mp-38 but early mp-40's (a significant amount) were retrofitted to accept the safety feature charging handles. Of course examples exist of the early mp-40's that one way or another did not receive the upgrade and still retain the original charging handle.
