Great weapon. Some WW-2 US soldiers actually used them. Also many British WW-2 veterans discarded their Sten Guns for the MP-40 that fired the same round as the Sten of 9X19MM Parabellum. Great weapon and it stands up today very well.

My Dad said that he carried one for a while. He was a scout in the 66th Armored Field Artillery Battalion, 4th Armored Division in Patton's Third Army. He told me that they had over ran a German supply dump in the early fall of 1944 and, in addition to all of the booze, there were crates of arms. He found a crate of MP40's and crates of pre loaded magazines and helped himself to some. He said that he liked the MP40 because it was lighter then the Thompson submachine gun, just as reliable and accurate. He ditched it after he ran out of the preloaded magazines and just as well because you didn't want to be caught carrying a German submachine gun at the outbreak of the Battle of the Bulge according to my Dad.

@@SeanDahle I very much doubt so. The problem is, MP40 has very distinctive sound and that painted you into enemy colors everytime you shoot it, in all the chaos you could very easily get killed by friendly fire. Aside from separate cases, soldiers would refrain from using it.
@GodlessReason
9 ай бұрын
That's a myth. The truth is, they collected the guns, but didn't use them during the war for good reasons: 1. They weren't trained on the gun. Using a gun you're not properly trained on is a disadvantage, even if it's superior - high risk. 2. Allied supply didn't include 9x19mm Parabellum ammo. The Thompson fired .45 ACP. Even though the cartridge is among the most popular today, back in WW2 soldiers would've depended on constantly looting enemy soldiers to get ammo - very high risk. 3. During a firefight nobody can see shit, because everyone has their heads down. Soldiers were trained to know the sound of enemy guns. They used their ears to locate enemies, so firing the MP40 would've attracted friendly fire and grenades - suicidal risk.
I'm pretty sure that Germany have different flag in 1938.

@@fergal2424 If you think German tanks were unreliable, then you should've seen the Soviet ones! The KV-1 for instance, if you wanted to change gear at all then you had to almost bring it to a complete halt, and use a hammer to knock the gear lever into the next position! There's reports of gearboxes being installed incorrectly at factory level, incorrect gears being installed in the gearboxes, welds not finished properly creating structural integrity issues, recoil piston failures and a whole host of other potentially fatal problems. Let me tell you, reliability of any nation's tanks was about the same, the difference was in the recovery of those broken down tanks, or replacement of them with fresh equipment.

z y lmao the 'abducted scientists' were largely made up for forced workers that the nazis rounded up many of whom were jews and ironically many jewish scientists escaped from germany and helped with the Manhattan project like albert Einstein. The m60 is also an outdated firearm only used officially by the danish military and i think some island country in the Pacific. And what the fuck are u saying about the microwave being invented by the nazis
@kimjongun505

z y and the v2 rocket barely touched orbit, it was an extremely dumbed down overly expensive short range missile and was one of hitlers over ambitious plans. Also i have mention how almost all the german military was using horses over vehicles, the quality control of the small amount of vehicles (tanks etc) was so bad that the panthers average distance it would drive before breaking down was so fucking short. The stg44 was also notorious for jamming, breakages and stoppages due to its poor design and the only reason why its so popular is due to the thousands of dumb wehraboos on the internet saying 'mUh gErMaN gUns sUpeRiOr bEcAuSe AsSuAlT rIfLe' fucking educate your self and go back to 4chan with the rest of ur neckbeard incel friends

@@eatpoopoo ((the computer had nothing to do with nazi germany mate and the microwave was developed during the cold war)) and the idea of a intermediate cartridge in a rifle for general service isnt something very special and would've been thought up at some point in time any way and the only similarities between the fact that both the ak style platform and the stg/mkb series is the gas system. and i can assure u as a good dane that my hair is alright an that im actually living in middle class london studying theoretical physics and fucking hate nazis and commies and usually find my self in the middle when it comes to my political views. also orbit is officially recognised as 320 km above sea level and the v2 rockets maximum altitude when fired horizontally was around 200km. also about the patents, the victor takes it all and the germans lost, and i can bet you the germans would've done alot fucking worse if they won
20mrad 90% accuracy at 10 yards, from full auto, collapsable stock and standing position. Wow. Expected a much larger dispersion. Pretty controllable.

Nicely done video!
Isn't it cool how sub guns in general and 9mm ones in particular are totally back in fashion lately? I guess the gun guys of the 30's and 40's were onto something or maybe subs are just too much fun to ever die out.

Bump! What a fun video. I really enjoy these
Incredible photography. The slow mo of the bolt stripping a round of the top of the magazine and the ejector doing its thing... In the late 70s as a teenager whose dad was stationed in Germany, I got to know a former Wehrmacht soldier rather well. His first airplane ride was almost the Luftwaffe flying them out of Russian encirclement. Instead, he and some buddies tried to escape through the lines. Ended up in a Russian POW camp for five years. His first airplane ride was with me 34 years later! That's not the point here, though. He said the quality of steel in the magazine springs was very poor. They would unload the magazines and stretch out the springs before each patrol. Interesting side note - the POW camp was so far out in the sticks that it had no fence. There was nowhere to go and no way to get there. The Russians kept POWs as late as 1955.
Démonstration efficace, génial !! Excellent tireur ..👍 et ce PM mp 38 est remarquable..👍🙏
Hey you got Tyler Grey on there but didn't let him talk, good guy, and as always awesome video.
Great video!!
Always loved that gun !
Never been to this channel. THAT SLOW MO! This was so educational. I might not be the best speller but DAMN I like what I sea!
The mp-40 was initially produced with the same charging handle as the mp-38 and suffered from the same safety issue. Not only the mp-38 but early mp-40's (a significant amount) were retrofitted to accept the safety feature charging handles. Of course examples exist of the early mp-40's that one way or another did not receive the upgrade and still retain the original charging handle.
I’m no professional but from my limited perspective these are some of the best produced and edited shooting videos on the interwebz
