Journalists will not safe you, if your political system is rotten as it is. Way to much money in politics, electoral college, which gives small states way to much influence, strange understanding of freedom of speech (news outlets, politicans (even presidents) can lie 24/7 without getting checked, judges voted in for life (!), cherry mandering...and most important maybe: poor education of to many people in you country. buttom line: the list is way to long to believe, that your country can not be taken over by guys like Trump. And that is very scary. In my country Germany, i guy like Trump wouldn`t even become a greenkeeper in the local football club. We have right wing parties aswell in Germany, and we also have to fight for our democracy. But a guy like Trump would never ever get elected into office..

@@Justusson I agree. The Justices of the Supreme Court should be elected by... Their peers. I think they're the most qualified to make such a decision. I'm no lawyer so I don't think I should be making the most important decisions about the laws, that's my reasoning for them being elected by their peers. And not just judges but anyone who has passed the Bar exam, and not been involved in an insurrection, can vote. It sounds pretty democratic to me.

I've seen George allow conservatives to propagandize without ever challenging their BS _many_ times over the years. He was part of laying the groundwork for this situation.

My baseline question for all the Republicans who are quitting instead of staying and fighting fir a better GOP is "WHY DON'T YOU STAY AND FIGHT ?

Democracy takes some work on the part of the governed. Voters need to do some research on the candidates from a wide variety of sources. Voters need to listen to a variety of pundits, and filter out those who lie or misrepresent the facts on a regular basis. Nominate good people. Vote for good people. Voters need to acknowledge, at least in the privacy of the voting booth, that the better candidate may not be of their preferred political party. Most of all everyone needs to vote.

You can’t participate in an election if you refuse to accept the results. Just like you can’t play a game if you refuse to accept the score or the referee’s calls. Just like you can’t play chess if you refuse a checkmate. If you don’t like the rules, DON’T PLAY!
