I totally disagreed with the austerity policies the Tories handed to the country in the early 2010s. However, I am sceptical of this figure of 330,000 excess deaths. To put it in context, this would dwarf the pandemic death total completely. Did the numbers dying literally explode during 2010 - 2015? If so, what did these people die of? What were their ages? In what specific ways did the austerity regime cause huge numbers of perfectly healthy people to die suddenly over a five year period? Does anyone know?

Ed Balls and Andrew Pierce were deeply uncomfortable with Owen bringing up the certifiable austerity deaths, they tried their best to shut him down.

Covers everything from someone as dangerous as Osborne reinventing himself as "Mr Reasonable", Ed propping him up and erroneously conflating throwing confetti with killing someone. The reason Ed feels able to "strongly disagree" with Osborne but still go to his wedding is because the policies never had any impact on him personally.

George Osborne can make conscious decisions, that directly contribute to the oppressively violent death of thousands of the poorest in society. But dont you dare mildly inconvenience him for 5 seconds of his privileged life. What a world we live in.

I can honestly imagine some ordinary person sitting in her kitchen and saying to her friends “I’m going to throw some orange confetti at George Osborne’s wedding just for a laugh and watch the establishment media lose their minds.”

On this I agree with you Owen. But the discussion was another example of people conflating several wildly different issues and arguing at cross purposes, making it really difficult to get a sensible point across. While I agree with the concept of civility in politics - after all you have to work with people of different perspectives to achieve anything - this doesn't mean that you give someone a free ride after imposing hideous consequences on the country - 'let's agree to disagree' doesn't cut it here. And while civility in politics was being put forward you were being treated rudely by the other guest without much push back.

Well done Owen,you do speak for many of us and bless you for that.

Absolutely agree! Some of my family and friends are still feeling the scars from what this man has done to our country. I personally do not think it should of been in the media id rather see him in prison for what he has done. Nothing to be proud of is it....
